Cost?? 2021 Ram 5500 and Host cascade. I would prob have to separate them. I wonder if both would fit in same container. How would camper tie down, etc. Thoughts?
Better to rent there, can you?? Shipping between islands?

Your camper will not fit inside a standard shipping container. It is too wide, maybe too tall as well. Look here for some measurements (random google search result): https://blog.mobilemodularcontainers.com/shipping-container-dimensions
You will likely need to ship ro/ro (roll on/roll off).
You need to talk to a shipping company for reliable information and a quote.
The shipping rates are daily rates, so the price you pay in a few months may be very different from what you get quoted today.

I saw the inside the trunk of a fellow workers car that they had moved from puerto rico to the states , a terrible rusty mess. don't think I would take a $60-70 k truck and camper into that type of salty situation.

When I moved to Hawaii for a few years, I shipped my car via Pasha. I think they have the only roll-on roll-off (RO-RO) service from the mainland to Hawaii. Cost for a car is around $1500 one-way, not including truck transport from wherever you or to the ship in Los Angeles. For a truck+camper, their website says to call with dimensions to see if they can take it.

I was very pleased with their service, I dropped the car off at an auto lot near home, then about 10 days later they dropped it off at my house in Hawaii.

Another option would be Matson shipping, I don't have any experience with their car service (but I did ship a couple pallets of household items - they were good except for when the guy brought the pallets and tippped it off the lift gate when it was lowered, dealing with their insurance was a nightmare, I finally gave up and replaced a few hundred dollars of broken items at my own expense)

For interisland transport, I think you'd have to contract with Young Brothers for barge shipping. I've never used them. A while back there used to be a car ferry service between some of the islands, but that fizzled out. I actually had tickets for the ferry, but they shut down before my trip.

To be honest, I'm not sure how useful a camper would be in Hawaii, you can't sleep overnight in most public parking areas and it's not like there are a lot of RV campgrounds.

Have you been to Hawaii? Iโ€™ve only been on 5-6 of the islands, but my overall impression is thereโ€™s not a lot of places that a large RV would be very useful. It just wouldnโ€™t be worth the time, effort, and cost to ship mine over there.

JMHO, of course.

The US Navy sailors regularly ship vehicles to and from locations in Hawaii. Even though this is common, I would think there are better and less expensive ways to see the islands. We have been twice by ship and visited 5 islands each time. But with covid that option may not be practical.

My Sprinter bus started its life in Hawaii and after couple of years was imported to California and I have seem more vans going this direction.
Meaning it has to be some economic reason why vehicles are shipped this way, not the other.
The cheapest way to ship vehicle is Ro-Ro system, but don't know if that is available for this destination.

I can't even imagine the logistics of getting a truck and camper to one island. Let alone trying to island hop with it. I would be looking for a vacation company in Hawaii that has equipment on different islands.
