Sizing a power tongue jack

Hey All,

I'd like to replace the manual tongue jack with a power jack but not sure how much lift I need. I have a Passport 2910BH with a tongue weight in the 975lb to 1050lb range depending on how much water/stuff I'm carrying. Would a 3500lb capacity suffice? Some brands are quieter than others, how about the Husky 3500?

One thing that I ran into with my electric jack was that I was not able to put the tail gate down without it hitting the jack motor. To correct this problem I rotated the jack 120 degrees to the left. Since the mounting bolt holes are not exactly 120 degrees apart I mounted the jack with 2 bolts and marked the jack mounting plate from below. I removed the jack and drilled a hole in the plate, then reinstalled the jack. The whole job took less than 30 minutes but I'm slow.

I don't think the OP realizes that you can use the tongue jack to lift the back of the truck to attach WD bars....or else he'd know to get the biggest one.

This addition to my TT was probably the 2nd most important thing I purchased for it.

Get a minimum 3500# jack and all will be well.

Mine looks just like that but is branded RAM. Quiet and effective. Has to be covered to keep rain out.

Didn't have to cover the Atwood on the old trailer.

That's what I have also. 3650# capacity. LOVE IT !!!!

It lifts the back of my truck. Works great in setting up the WDH.

18" travel, If you need more travel, just add a 6 x 6 block of wood under it.

My 3500 lb jack raises the front of the camper and the back of the Suburban just fine.
Whatever you consider make sure it will fit in the existing hole and align with the bolt holes.
