Somebody's vacation got ruined

On Thursday afternoon, Highway 16 on the west side of Edmonton AB, I noticed something in the west bound lane as we were going east. I said to my wife"someone must have lost a container or something on the road. As we got closer we noticed that it was about a 24 or 26' travel trailer laying on its side. There was a fairly new Jeep Grand Cherokee still hitched to it and upright but the back end was about 3' in the air. Not sure exactly how long the trailer was but it and the Jeep took up all three lanes and both shoulders. Wasn't windy so not sure what happened but it sure looked like not enough truck for the trailer. Hope they were alright

Yeah, that is scary. I never pull a 28" trailer. That's small enough to put on the back seat! When you pull it other drivers have a hard time seeing it behind you, and people trip over it in the campground.

Hey now, they never said how wide or how tall the trailer is/was;)...

Yeah, that is scary. I never pull a 28" trailer. That's small enough to put on the back seat! When you pull it other drivers have a hard time seeing it behind you, and people trip over it in the campground.

The driver of the vehicle pulling the trailer tried to swerve, but didn't swerve quite enough. The ramp landed upright, and the tow-vehicle missed the ramp, but the trailer didn't. Think about it. These aliens travel millions of light years to come here and probe humans AND wreck RV's. Maybe both at the same time? I know I would jerk the wheel if something probed me when I was not expecting it! :B

He could have very well been cut off by someone and had to take very quick evasive maneuvers..I've yet to have to do that (knock on wood), but I can't imagine its easy and fun to do with any trailer/vehicle combo...

my grand Cherokee is rated for 6500lbs. Max trailer length 25'. very likely a light trailer in this range was well within his vehicle capabilities.
