Steps too low

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this. The site we are at right now is sloping in a way that the steps are too low and not allowing the last step to un-fold.
I am thinking I may drill out the rivets and make it removable for the future. Any other ideas (not digging ) are appreciated.

Thanks
Paul

You can park on a 2x8 and gain a few inches.Or do what I did.Build a platform out of 2x6 and a hunk of plywood and eliminate the step.

I don’t know that you couldn’t just lift the second step a little and when the bottom step swings the rest of the way down you will be ok… it’s worth a try and is what I did one time… it requires less clearance down than it does to swing it down…

If it makes them unstable then boards under the wheels are the best option… I doubt I would alter the steps for something that will rarely be a problem…

Turns out this was a PLUS for us. This step is grated and heavy duty. I get to stomp on it pretty hard before entering the trailer and cleans up my boots pretty good.

I ran one of those locking coiled cables from the back of the pull out steps assy up thru my Coleman Road Trip Grille which usually sits by the door when setup and then goes thru the side of the folding step. Keeps these two items from growing legs and wandering off on me when I am away from the frailer...

And you can use it in the morning to make your waffles

I camp at PA state parks. You have to be ready for severe side to side and front to rear situations.

I love all the solutions. You are all so creative and so many good ideas. If this happened on my 5er I would just hit the Bigfoot levelers and lift the whole coach a couple of inches. 🙂

I usually have the opposite problem. My TT is rear entry and many sites slope from front to rear which means my bottom step is taller than it should be.

In your situation, I would not alter the steps. Add a 2x6 under the wheels on both sides.

I hate those severely off level sites. Adds to the amount of gear needed on weekend camping. 3 sets of camco pads, 3 ton floor jack, and 16 feet of 4 ft sections of 2 X 10. PITA!

I've just always left the bottom step folded in situations like this.

Depends on the design whether this is feasible. In some cases leaving the bottom step unfolded prevents access to the middle tread /step, thereby causing another complication. I suspect this is the case with my RV which is not handy for me to check at the moment.

I see. Mine just folds flat onto the step above it.

Had one of these with my last TT. Stepped up on it just a tad too far to the back, causing it to flip up and jam both my ankles into the step just above it. Very painful.

Only happened once to us and the bottom step could pull out, it was just flat on the ground.
Why not dig out the extra dirt, keep it watered off to the side and put it back in when you leave.
