Suprised at F250 payload

At the dealership getting a service and looked at several new F250 trucks. Highest payload of those I looked at was 2168- suprised as this is only 300 pound more than my F150, but this seems to be the go to truck in campgrounds, normally with huge fifth wheels. What am I missing?

I can legally put over 3,000 lbs on my diesel 2500. Not sure what the problem is.

My 2012 F250 Ultimate Lariat has 1993 payload. Pretty low, but I'll have a F350/3500 series truck next time in case I want to step up to a fifth wheel. Unfortunately like a lot of people I found this site after purchasing my truck. I researched the ford website and thought I bought enough truck for a fifth wheel, but I didn't. In hindsight I would have purchased a F350 LB, for the added flexibility.

Not sure what changed. My 2015 diesel F250 has a 2500lb payload. The gas version of the same truck had a 3200lb payload.

Easy: The Diesel and all that goes with it is heavier (most likely about 700# heavier). So the remaining payload is reduced.

Good point. The OP did not say which version (Gas or Diesel) they were looking at. I could see a fully loaded diesel 250 getting down around 2000lbs.

I have 3800 in my Chevy 2500! Then again, as noted, crew cab, diesel, leather pkg etc reduce weight a lot!
