I would never have thought in a million years that someone would do a story about my family......ever! Nobody wanted to interview us when we had a travel trailer. This truck camping stuff is cool. CLICKY

Yes, I could get another battery in there. Its an AGM battery and it sits under the sink. No outside door. Access is through the cabinet door.

Isn't it fun to be able to share your fun and adventures with all of us? I know that I live vicariously through many of our members on this site, as I'm still working WAY too much (6 more months!!!) and previous years family health issues prevented me from getting out as much as I would have liked. Cool article and great photos! Here's to many more fun times with your family and TC! 🙂

Cheers!

Great article, Mike, and great pics. The Beartooth is now on my bucket list, too.
I'm also looking at upgrading to Northstar camper, a Laredo SC. Love the low profile and Euro windows. Does your battery compartment have room for 2 batteries?

Great article. We drove the beartooth in a normal car last year. Beautiful area. Camping up there must be great. We are currently in the TT vs. TC vs. class B stage. You make a strong case for TC.

Our daughter is only three and we can't keep her out of the NL TC we bought in April. Hoping that we can create half the memories you have with your daughter over the next 15 years.

Great article. Being a subscriber to Truck Camper Magazine I have already read the article, which was very good. Beartooth Highway will be going on my bucket list.
I am glad you found the benefits of having a TC, to me it is the only way to travel.
I suppose you also found out what great people Gordon & Angela are at TC Magazine. Really good folks.
It is great you could share your story with everyone, that is part of what TCing is all about.

Mike,
Without getting into the whole 2WD vs. 4WD debate, I am just curious as to often and under what circumstances you needed 4WD to get out of a jam? Most people use 4WD to NOT get stuck but often admit they weren't sure they needed it at all.

Honestly we have never used 4 wheel drive to get OUT of a jam but I'm sure it has prevented us from getting into one in the first place. The best reason for 4 wheel drive while carrying a camper off road is the transfer case low range. It allows us to comfortably creep along the really rough roads at low speed.

Back in the 70s I had an F-250 2 wheel drive but went some crazy places with it because it had limited slip and creeper gear. I don't think anything is made with a granny gear anymore, or a manual transmission for that matter, because most people don't use trucks for their intended purpose. Most pickups on the road today have never been off the pavement or carried anything heaver than a few sacks of groceries.
