Thanks for closing Crossing into Canada with a Firearm

I've been a member of the TC Forum since 2004. Every year since I joined, there's yet more posts with questions about carrying firearms from the US to Canada. Every year, this kind of post takes on a life of it's own, people get out the popcorn, and all sorts of armchair or otherwise experts expound on how to do it, how not to do it, and why.

The latest post was no exception and it too morphed into the best firearm to protect one's self from bears. I think that was why it got closed....because it drifted off down yet another rabbit hole.

Thanks to the moderators for closing it. I appreciate your efforts.

For some people it's a repeat. For new members who may not have had an interest in searching the information, it is new and refreshing.

After all, this is a forum, open and free. No member owns it or runs it so I think the discussion can repeat itself as many times as people want it to.

It's good to have a discussion, there still seems to be no 100% fact on the issue as you are dealing with different border entries and individual border agents, on both sides or three sides of the border, who think they are the ultimate potentates of the crossing.

Lighten up, it's a forum. Show me a forum where these types of discussion don't take place. If they do exist, it doesn't sound of interest to me.

Sleepy is right, there is a lot to learn from everyone, no matter how often a question is asked and answered. Like tires, trucks and campers, they change often, so why shouldn't our experiences change and develop new and easier ways of doing things.

I give a lot of credit to the people here for the success that I have had over the years. I wish there had been someone here before me doing many of the things I have done, but what I learned was to ask, watch for the people that exhibit the most knowledge and note them for later. But also watch for that person that reaches, not afraid to try something where the potential is to trip and fall. For that is the person I want to follow too, because he/she is not turning off their listening to someone that might not think, do, or live as he/she does.

Thanks Wayne for your shepherding and Geewizard for breaching ridge and bringing up a topic once again relevant.

Geewizard - Thanks for the post of support and understanding. That makes moderating worth the effort.

I too think it has had valuable information, until it wandered off topic. I was also pleasantly surprised it took several pages to wander off topic. A good job by those that stayed on topic.

You're welcome, Wayne. It is a valuable topic and one that reoccurs so many times on this forum.

Same is kid of true with each new "generation" that pops up on these forums. They've simply got to ask the questions themselves! Even if it's the same repeat over and over.
ther wouldn't be anything of interest to talk about after a couple years.some of the fishing forums i used to visit ,i don't anymore because all the answers to any posted questions were " do a search ".times and tech change, otherwise you wouldn't be here.

I have usually searched for answers, for products, etc before I ask questions on the TC forum.

I enjoy seeing all of the answers... not because they are all good or are all feasible....
... but I still ask... because every once in a while someone answers just a little different than last time, or someone has had a different experence... and best of all we have a new crop of members that just might jar something loose in our collective mind.

Then we have progress!

I agree that the few trolls and cronic *****ers are a pain.... and the guy that comes along every once in a while that knowingly lies when it might get someone hurt or in trouble is a shame. The forum tends to out them...

Keep on asking, keep on solving and sharing.... good, honest answers are wonderful.

Thanks to all of you for the help that I've had.

Sleepy

BTW... I prefer 2 shoe laces and the tounge out of my shoe... make a sling... find the perfect rock.... spin it round and tound over my head... let loose of one of the strings.... there goes the rock

If you don't hit the bear you'll have time to run away... the bear will be laughing so hard he won't be able to see to chase you!

If it devolved into name calling and the like, it should be closed. If it is bunch of people beating a dead horse, who cares? I see no reason to shut down conversations just because other people have no interest in what is being said. If it was entertaining or engaging to the people participating, why should it be closed? Its not like the bits and bytes being posted are costing anyone any money.

It was never much of a topic to begin with. People take things said on the internet WAY too serious.
