Tires for F-150

Its time that I purchase some new tires for my F-150. I'm looking at a set of Cooper Discoverer ATP, anyone running these and how are they? Are they too much AT for highway driving? Thank You

Put a set on my truck this past summer replacing the factory Michelins. I've got about 6K miles on them so far and have been happy.

Quick update on my tires, BF Goodrich A/T T/A KO2.275/60/R20 I made a trip up from Florida to North Carolina over Thanksgiving and I absolutely love my tires. Not only do they look good, they were quiet and I may have lost a mile to the gallon on fuel economy but according to my trucks fuel economy gauge I didn't even lose that much. I'm stoke about these so far.

Brulaz, I was told that they are getting just as good of mileage or more on the highway out of these than they are of any of All Terrain tires. If you look on You Tube you can easily find reviews on these tires and I have yet to find a negative one.

Glad to hear they're working out for you. Guess I'll put them back on my "watch list".:)

Think it was lawnspecialties here that complained about how long they last: http://forums.woodalls.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/28939142/gotomsg/28940722.cfm#28940722

But there's a lot of other folks out there that like them:

Maybe being sure to run them at 80psi when towing will help. I think a lot depends how much you tow and how much weight you're putting on the wheels (rears especially). My OEM rears were substantially worn away after one summer of towing.

Well they only had two of the Coopers so he sold me the BF Goodrich A/T T/A KO2.275/60/R20 Hopefully they are not too much AT we will see. The salesman said that they are good tires. Again we will see. Thanks for the replies

I've considered those but the lack of any tread wear warranty and their winter service rating (mountain peak/snowflake symbol) suggest that they won't last too long on the highway.

Supposedly great off-road and in the winter though.

I like Coopers, and they last as long, or longer than the over priced, over hyped Michelins. Had those as well. I didn't buy Coopers this time because they didn't make a tire in the size, and weight range I wanted. If I could have found some I would have gladly bought them. however I used Cooper Discoverer HT Plus, rated to 2601lb.
This time I ended up with Wrangler Fortitude rated to 2756lb. Yes way overkill for a 150. However they really make the ride solid while towing.

Coopers have always been good tires for me. Those will do fine for ya.
Not much of a tire thread if you decide before 100 people weigh in, half saying how Michilubes make their truck run like its floating on heavens clouds and half saying they dry rotted and all blew out before they got out of the tire shop parking lot!

Is this a reccomendation? If it is you forgot to say what tires you're reccomending getting all caught up in the fish story....lol.

Thanks guys, I looked at the Michelin LTX M/S 2's but they were a little pricey. I'm going to try these and if they don't produce, I will suck it up next time and get the Michelins. Happy Thanksgiving

Just a suggestion since you already have a particular tire in mind. I put the Michelin LTX M/S 2's on my F-150 and was nothing but delighted with the performance they gave. I was towing a 22' 5,000# TT at the time. I now have them on my 24' Class C and again could not be more pleased with the performance/wear I get. The ride and handling are excellent and they come with a 70,000 mile tread warranty.
