my one year old camper was at our seasonal campground all summer. I am pulling it home this sunday...the tires sat in grass/dirt all season. Before I make the 80 mile drive home what should I look at to make sure tires are ok to make the trip? Camper is 1 year old. What would happen? dry rot? thanks

Tires should be fine, may just need some air....I would go to Lowe's and buy ''stepping stones'' for the tires to set on.

I have a gravel lot where I have my carport where I keep my TC & pontoon... I also have my TT & equipment trailer in the gravel lot too... I have the stepping stones under my TT, pontoon & equipment trailer tires!

I don't let the tires set on the gravels because the #57 gravels are sharp.... I bought the 12"x12" stepping stones and they're perfect for tires!

Date code, do a query and you will get the answer, 6 years questionable 10 years too many, in between subject to debate There should be a 4 digit code, first two month second two year, today would be 1014. Over 8, are you going to keep longer than 4 or? years? If so replace tires. Are you ready to replace/retire? Sell now and do not replace tires.

What about the "date code" is there to look for? Please elaborate more.

Next summer put boards under them or have gravel hauled in then cover those tires from the sun

I would check the air pressure. Top off off with my portable compressor then head home. Your tires are not going to rot away sitting on grass for a year. You may feel a bump, bump, bump for a little while from a flat spot on the tire, but after they warm up, you'll be just fine.

Have a nice trip.
