Toilet not holding water

Hello,

A couple of weeks ago, my son (7) used the bathroom and had not everything fit going down. He used the toilet brush to push everything down, and managed to remove the seal as well as get the brush stuck in the toilet. I was able to get the brush out, but I lost the seal. We replaced the seal this weekend but its not holding water in the bowl. Is it possible he bent the flush ball slightly and now its not against the seal like it should? So far we have been lucky and the smell isn't bad, but it would only take a real hot weekend to make the bathroom unbearable.

Thanks

Mike

In the last week I've been in contact with Dometic customer service, They said they had some problems. Her exact statement was "We had an issue with our flush ball supplier and some of our flush balls are warping and dropping out of the base assembly making a gap between the ball and the seal." She said she would send me a new toilet if it was within the 2 Year warranty period.......and as my luck goes it was out of warranty!

Assuming the new seal is installed correctly and the ball is smooth with no scratches, fill the bowl with hot water to help reshape/form the seal to the ball.

Are you sure you tightened bolts holding top of toilet to bottom AND compressing the seal? If not it will leak past seal and not hold water, also may not put enough resistance against flush mechanism that you can't fill bowl without wiper opening. If this is the case it's an easy fix, just tighten bolts.

I had the same problem not holding water. If it is a Dometic 310 there is a indentation(inside the throat) in the side below the valve and seal about 3" down where the valve goes into might of slipped out.

It is also possible that the new seal isn't installed properly.

My wild guess is that you need to look for a new toilet.
