Tow vehicle for a crossroads cf32bl

Hi all. Been looking at replacing our 1998 winne with the above 5 wheel. My brain is absolute mush. Looked at fifth wheels and tow vehicles and I think above trailer is the one but for tow vehicles I've been looking at gmc 2500's with 6.0 and I'm honestly wondering if that's enough truck. Dry weight is 8450. Should I look at one tons?
Next question the owner of this might be offering 96 f350 dually with 7.3.... Thoughts on that truck?
Thoughts on crossroads brand? Sorry I'm rambling like I said my brain is fried.

Sure. V10, 5 speed auto. 4.10 I believe. I didn't confirm with vin or anything.

well I think the search is over. I put a deposit on a 2008 f350 drw extended cab. 169000 miles but southern and clean. wife likes it so that's what matters LOL. thanks so much to everyone that commented. this is a great forum.

What year is the GMC 2500 6.0? For that weight trailer it would be suggested to have the 4.10's, regardless of the year. Even more so if it has the 6spd trans, the 6.0 would do a great job pulling that, with the 4.10's.

Check the drivers door for the yellow payload sticker, "All passengers and cargo not to exceed XXXXlbs". This will help you determine if the truck will have enough payload or not for the 5ver.

As for the 2500 vs 3500, wouldn't hurt if you could find a 3500 to be safe.

No I agree. I read a cab off repair can just break the bank. We're going to look at the v10 truck tonight. Have a v10 f350 at work and it's been great. The only thing I worry about is spitting a plug. Thinking about insisting they change plugs as condition to buy. I dont know.


I believe the plug spitting was only an issue with the early models.

To your following question on the 2500 eight limits, if it has a GVWR of 10,000# you should be ok. The V10 will be a stronger puller.

A 12klb 5ver is right at the limits of what you want to be hookjng to 10-20 year old high mile gasser pickups.
Need to state your intended use. Few trips thru Ohio to a state park a year, find the nicest old gasser that isn't a rust bucket already.
Plan on Xcountry, hot weather in the desert, big grades, hi altitude, etc, then you're looking at the wrong trucks IMO.

I don't think I'd completely eliminate the GMC 6.0. It's no diesel, but is reliable and quite capable of pulling your intended trailer. It will rev when asked to make power, but if that's acceptable to the occupants it will work hard and long. Pulling mileage is going to be around 8 mpg no matter what gas powwewrplant is used. Don't completely write it off before hearing a few other opinions of it.

We like our V10 very much. Another factor though is the differential gearing. We bought ours with 3.73s and after pulling our Cruiser we switched to 4.56s. Now it tows like a dream and gets better mpg. From he research I had done I knew it would tow better, but the increase in mpg surprised me.

Yea the f350 was used for plowing and it was rusty and front end seemed beat. Across the street I found a very clean gmc 2500 short bed with 6.0. Drove great. If it won't do what I need though it's beside the point.
