Towing speed?

I'm wondering what speed most folks shoot for when towing a travel trailer? Highway towing on the flats that is.

60. I was driving behind my husband once when he was inching up past 70, and it looked really scary to me--lots of movement in the trailer (33 foot long trailer). He didn't feel it at all from the van, but it was enough to convince me to keep it to around 60 no matter what the speed limit is

I've always run LT tires so the tires aren't an issue. That said, I've set speed based on engine performance taking it up to where real time gas mileage started it's rapid decline, then back off a bit. Depending on conditions that was generally somewhere between 60-68. Of course in the states with lower speed limits Of course if the speed limit is lower, that dictates your speed.

Usually 65, occasionally up to 70 on the interstate. On the blue highways I'll usually honor the posted limit. I'm keeping to those more and more.

IF I am using an Interstate then 65MPH regardless of posted MAX Speed Limit

But usually travel secondary roads so speed is dependent on the road....55/62 mph

My trailer tires are 75MPH rated....but who needs to drive that speed towing?
Is it time for your medication or mine?

In hot weather 60mph. Cold weather 65mph. Keep an eye on tire temps. I use an infrared hand held unit to check temps when refuelling.

Between 60 And 65. Its a VACATION. If we are in a hurry, take the car and stay in hotel. Try and live by the 330 rule, 330 miles or stop at 3:30. Did I already say its a VACATION. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm a low 60's kind of guy. I keep to the right, leave reasonable following distance, and don't drive when very tired. Hard to believe how fast I've gotten old!

Depends on your trailer tires speed rating.
Most ST tires are speed rated at 65 MPH.
My LT tires are speed rated at 99MPH. So I tow what is reasionable and prudent.
