Tri fold sleeper

We bought a 2015 Heritage Glen 302FK travel trailer yesterday, but we are greatly disappointed with the tri fold sleeper. It's black with fake leather (is that what you call it?) so slippery I can practically slide off. The dealership has several Heritage Glen travel trailers, and unfortunately, all of the sofas have air mattresses. My trailer is the only one with the tri fold sleeper. We are now stuck with this ugly sleeper. I googled the Internet and was shocked to find the prices ranging from $1,065 to $1,400.

What should we do? ๐Ÿ˜ž

Note that the OP JUST bought this trailer and would take a horrible financial hit to "just trade it for what you want". Certainly they needed to do a bit more homework before rather than after, but that wasn't the case.

Re this particular dealer.....something doesn't smell quite right to me. There should be no reason for them not to want to work with your credit union - they're going to get their money regardless of where it comes from. The approval for a particular trailer only may be valid, but if the cost is very close a simple phone call to the lender (credit union) should suffice. When we changed from the ROO 19 HTT we were interested in to the ROO 23SS, they did get approval because there was a fairly good price increase. Sorry this has turned into another headache.

This is not a headache at all. We are happy with our new travel trailer ๐Ÿ™‚ Like I said in another post, the only issue is the tri fold sleeper, that's all.

Hello neighbor!

I don't like a sofa sleeper airbed. I prefer a tri fold sofa sleeper. However, I will check their web site and see if they might have one. Thanks for your advice! ๐Ÿ™‚

My dealer didn't want to deal with am outside credit union as mine, which was Indiana University. They originally didn't want to sell it if I didn't finance through them or pay up front. So after negotiating a good price for over a week, I told them to forget about it and I'd buy somewhere else. They quickly changed their minds and decided to work with my credit union to get the deal done.

Other than that, I've had good luck with them and would buy again from them. But they make money off of loans and didn't want to give it up quietly. Rv dealers are not like car dealerships at all and actually make them look honest. ๐Ÿ™‚

Something there sounds a bit fishy! I guess that is why I would not finance through the stealership and go with my personal bank or credit union. Then I can walk in with an approved amount I will finance for the purchase. It also provides YOU with greater bargaining power on price when you are not held to the stealership's "preferred" finance company.

I think they got the best of you, especially considering they knew emotionally what you had gone through with your just recovered/previously stolen TT.

Thank you all for your advice, thoughts, suggestions, opinions, etc. I do appreciate them all.

Please don't get me wrong. I do really like our new TT. It is just that the tri fold sleeper is ugly. They did offer to exchange that with another one that has an air mattress. I don't like that one, either. I have decided to keep that sleeper and look for a different one to replace this one in the very near future.

As I said in my post in regard to the booth dinette, I am going to keep the table and chairs and see how we feel later on. We can always change if we prefer the booth dinette. No problem ๐Ÿ™‚

We had checked out many travel trailers and checked out a couple of RV shows last year before buying the 2014 Coachmen Freedom Express Liberty Edition 305RKDS. I realized I like front or rear kitchens so this time I narrowed down my search to just the trailers with front/rear kitchens. I was not rushing at all. I just knew what I was looking for ๐Ÿ™‚

As has been said, see if you can cancel this sale.
You need to slow down and take a break from your recent experiences.
You said that you wanted a new TT because of your feelings about the stolen and recovered TT.
But now you've acquired a new TT that you are unhappy with for at least a couple of reasons.
There is no hurry to get a new TT unless you have an immediate trip planned that cannot be cancelled, even then you could rent something for an immediate trip.

You should take your time and look at a lot of TTs, ask a lot of questions. RV shows generally happen in January through March. Try to get to at least a few shows and look at lots of models.

There is a lot of experience and expertise here on the forum, but you should be asking questions of the forum members BEFORE you buy. Then you can use that knowledge to help you decide on what is best for your needs. Posting your disappointments AFTER you've bought will get responses of sympathy, but that isn't going to help your situation.

You should be thrilled when you take delivery of a new TT, you should not be having buyer's remorse just one day after you've purchased a new TT. Good luck with whatever you can do at this point.

I fail to understand why you buy a TT with multiple things you don't want. You should order one equipped how you want it.

Did you actually look at this TT before purchase?

Oh geeze... I didn't realize you were the same one that had your trailer stolen too!! But, sure enough.. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I've been here for 12+ years and haven't heard that series of "bad luck" from a member....

Whatever happens tomorrow, I hope it's better than your last couple of weeks..

So you have a friend-fold sleeper you don't like and a table & chairs in the same TT that you wish was a booth dinette. It sounds like you maybe jumped the gun on the new TT purchase. I hope you got it at a VERY reduced price (30+ % off "MSRP" or better).

If the TT wasn't what you wanted then why buy? It obviously was not all you wanted because you have already posted about two modifications and it's not even a week old.

I know you all just had your STOLEN TT returned, but it seems odd to have went out and purchased the new one if it wasn't what you wanted.

I was going to give you a bit of grief over this additional issue until I realized you've dealt with enough cr** the last few weeks. Personal opinion offered at no charge.....I think you should research what is available as standard or options on the trailer model you are looking at. Research it within an inch of its life. I'd bet that the sofa with an air mattress is available regardless of what the dealer said....seems to be the trend. You're in a part of the country that camping is likely not going to happen for many weeks. I think you should special order your trailer exactly as you want it. If that means searching for another dealer, then do it. You said you "bought" the trailer yesterday....does your state have the 3 day "buyers remorse"?? If so, you need to get a move on and cancel this deal PDQ. I know what you've dealt with recently is a PITA, but buying a trailer you don't absolutely LOVE everything about is not going to make you happy. IIRC, you were storing your previous trailer in a lot vs at home. So you save that many month's storage during this time you're trailer-less. Good luck. Hope you can work this out.

The day after the sale is not the time to start questioning what the trailer comes with. You needed to do that BEFORE making the deal. In addition, when the dealer "said no", you needed to determine if what you weren't getting was a deal breaker.

Now that it is yours, you need to find ways to make it work. How about making a fabric cover for the sofa? Something that you can easily take off when you want to fold it out into a bed, but that will give you a bit more "traction" when you're using it as a sofa.

For the dinette, you're looking at paying the $500 for the remodel OR doing it yourself. You might get lucky and find someone who has a dinette and is willing to trade you the dinette parts for your chairs and table - then it's only the labor you're paying for (or doing yourself).
