We are finally on the Radar

This is the first time I have ever seen a real effort by one of our
camper carriers to actually put some effort into a truck related to
carrying a TC. Wow!

I have never even been able to find the wheel capacity on our Dodge RAM.

TCM: Has Ford Motor Company conducted slide-in camper tests in the past?

Scott: I was personally involved in building a slide-in simulator for the F150 and F250 light duty trucks in 1993. That simulator was built out of aluminum.

In the early 2000s, we built the Super Duty version that we have in Arizona right now. The simulator for the Super Duty trucks is steel. We have another simulator in Dearborn.

It is nice they are talking to TCM, but this testing isn't new, Ford has been doing it for a long time. It is nice to see some of the "how it's done" pictures and videos.

If I couldn't buy a RAM, my next choice would be Ford. If I couldn't buy a Ford, next choice would be a GMC/Chevy.

If I couldn't buy either of those 3, I would walk!

I see all 3 carrying TCs successfully for thousands and thousands of miles. Why get "excited" about a test truck from a company that has just now decided to actually consider hauling a TC?

My RAM included a TC loading paper.

But you can only get the 5000# rating package if you order the optional twin I-beam bumper roll-bars at the front and back. I think Reese is coming out with the adapter plates for the rear, but you will need to install a front hitch to mount that one.

Well, ... "THIS" coming from a Chevy guy!

I'm actually glad to see this. At least someone is trying to make a difference. BS or honest truth, if it get the attention of the three big manufactures, then I say.... good job!

My 2005 and 2015 GM trucks both had max weights for slide-in truck campers posted in the glove box. How the weights were determined is an unknown.

I can tell you right away the BS meter goes red on this one.
Camper package for dually include only firmer front springs.
Also I think it wasn't the driver who smoke the tires, but poorly designed ESP system.

Of course, Ford has been including ratings for campers a long time and having camper packages. Who knows how they were doing it.

I think the interesting thing is that TCM is finally getting contacted by a manufacturer for something other than an ad. Congrats to them.

I wonder who's camper they used for the model. 🙂
