Truck Tires - I Want Good Ones

I have a Ford F-350 dually and am going through front tires at a ridiculous rate. I have less that 40k miles on the truck and am almost through the second pair. This last pair, same brand, won't make it 10k.

Part of it we found out is the dealership installed them a little off causing quicker wear and they are giving me like $400 bucks off my next set.

Also of note is I do rotate them and keep them properly inflated. Truck is my daily driver. Fifth-wheel towing is maybe 2k miles per year.

Anyway, recommendations on a quality truck tire. I tow a 15k pound fifth-wheel.

Is this a first? :h

Fish and Cummins agreeing on an issue! :B

Well make it three for Michelin's worth the cost when you consider what is riding on them.

HAAAAAAAAAA

Hold the bus! I thought "Fish" only bought from "American" owned Companies ??????

I do when I can... I'll even pay more for an "American" product. I will say my American built truck is wearing "Made in the USA" shoes. :W

You guys do know that Michelin LTX MS 2 is being done away with and being replaced by the "Premier" Of course the wear out warranty is going from 70,000 miles DOWN to 50,000 miles. With the poor wear on ours I sure do understand the downgrading. Bib did the math and said we can't be having this 70,000 mile deal no more!

I'd be looking at a good front end shop before I put any new tire on. Something is wrong.

I liked them until I had a blow out. Looks like there was dry rot in the tread. I never heard of that. Also, I got stuck easily on wet grass due to the highway tread.

I replaced them with Pep Boys Definity Dakota H/T. They are universal tread, are quiet and ride very well. I replaced the blow out with one of them on the road. When I got home, I decided to replace them all.

I don't like the Transforce HTs that came on my Ram. They suck offroad and I'm not expecting good things this winter. I doubt I'll let them wear down too much before I swap them out for decent shoes.

According to the responses, any and every tire s good for him! Lol
No post back from the op. Anyone toasting a set of front tires in les than 20k has jacked up alignment or track racing. Haha
Unless the truck is really loaded down and lots of twisty roads. Worst tire life of my life was when I commuted through Glenwood canyon on I 70. Running he mountain freeways I could wear a set of OE crappy tires off in 20kmi and good tires in 25-30k.

Me too. Good luck with Cooper as well.

I'm thinking my next set will be Toyo Open Country AT2 - seems to be a nice all around AT tire.

Same here. I have the Toyo Open Country AT2 on my truck now and they are excellent. Stopped using Michelin due to price and Toyos last as long for much less cost. Have Toyos on all of our vehicles, have 65k on my dd and have 2-3/32 on them.

We have been very happy with Cooper Discoverer A/T3 tires. We have used cooper A/T3 on 3 different trucks. Can't attest to the mileage has we rotate them out do to age with less than 20,000 on them.
Our 87 f350 that is used for local hauling and farm duties is the recipient of the old tires and the tires still are doing well.

Can you describe the tire wear pattern? If they're worn in the middle more than the edges it can indicate over inflation. "Cupping' in the tread indicates bad shocks or loose suspension. Wear on the outer edges more than the middle would indicate under inflation. Check out this illustration for more information.
