Weight Distribution Hitches

I am in the market for a weight distribution anti-sway hitch. My tow vehicle is a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My trailer is an Arctic Fox 22G. I have been leaning toward the Trekker by Easylift. Today I saw the Anderson 3380 hitch, which is very different than any of the others I have seen. I would value opinions about either hitch or other similar hitches that have worked particularly well.

My first question is what is wrong with your existing hitch? If it bucks, sways or is difficult to use then a new hitch may be in order. Also your choice of hitches may be dependent on your problem.

I use the Blue Ox the dealer installed when I picked up the TT. It was rock steady then and it is rock steady now. I do have to adjust a link or two for the load.

The Equalizer on a TT I rented was okay also but a bit noisy. I prefer the cam action lock up on the Blue Ox.

X's 2 on this one. I use a Blue Ox Sway Pro but have used the Reese also. Have heard good things about Equal-i-zer although it can be noisy.

I highly recommend something integrated sway control. Equal-i-zer 4pt, Reese Strait Line, or Blueox Swaypro are all in the $450-6000 range with very good owner feedback.

For under $400, the E2 and Equalizer WDH's are hard to beat. They are a good match for your TV and TT.

But generally speaking, the more you pay, the better the WDH. Not 100% true, but mostly. Thing is, do you NEED to pay more.

I like my Reese Dual Cam. It replaced an Equalizer brand I used for many years and I feel it works much better.
However, I think the Centerline brand looks interesting and may be a better unit.

Any ideas of throwing your hitch in the back of your car, you'll appreciate an Andersen hitch.

Some folks have asked about which grease to use on their hitches. A common answer is "what ever color matches your clothing and upholstery".

Andersen hitch uses NO grease or oil, anywhere. It also weighs much less than the others.

I too, have an Andersen hitch. Four seasons.

Love my Andersen hitch for the fact that you don't get a lot of the bucking action that you do with other hitches when going over rough roads.Those two big urethane washers take out a lot of the bounce. Storage when not being used is also great.

Been using the Andersen for the past two seasons. Like it so far. Does what it is suppose to very well. Quiet too. very light weight as well if you have to consider hitch weight or payload. Only constructive feedback I have is the triangle plate should be as straight as possible when hooking up.....meaning when you park your TT, your vehicle should be in alignment with the TT. You can still be at an angle when you disconnect or connect, but then you will need to straighten up the triangle plate before you distribute the weight. The Andersen site has a video under FAQ for this. Now, I have found it very rare where my vehicle is not in alignment backing in the TT. So far it is proven worthy. I have seen more and more of them being used.

I'll throw this Equalizer Hitch into the ring. It's what I use and I'm very happy with it. Easy to use once set up properly. Works very well with my 4500lb loaded Bigfoot
