What is most weight you guys haul with a F250?

I recently ordered a 2019 Ford F250 Super Duty Limited 4x4 short bed SRW with upgraded heavy trailer tow package.

I don't have the truck yet. It may take another month or so from the factory.

I have been looking at 5th wheels and really like the new Montana High Country 381TH. I am concerned that it may be too heavy for the truck (tongue and total weight).

The online towing guides are confusing from Ford. They show higher trailer towing weight maximums than fifth wheels which didn't make sense to me.

I am curious how much weight some of you have been able to comfortably tow with your Ford 250's with similar specifications?

John, If you really like that 5er, or worse yet DW has her heart set on that 5er, you best go back to the FORD dealer and change your truck order.

You don't state if the F250 is Diesel or gas, and if a regular or crew cab, but isn't going to have enough payload to come close to carrying that 5er anywhere near GVWR. If it is gas, not enough engine for a 17,000# GVWR 5er.

You are looking at a 5er with a DRY pin weight of 3,265# and a GVWR of 17,000#, it does have a dry wight of 13,546#. That said very easy to put 2,500# of stuff into a 41' 5er.

Now back to the truck, that fiver will also likely exceed the payload of a F350 SRW limited also as the Max GVWR on the 2019's is only 11,500#
Sorry to say you are really looking at a 2019 F350 DRW to have the necessary payload to carry that 5er.

With a 5er it isn't what the truck can pull it is what it can carry.

I’m not sure i’d Be within the weights with my F350 srw, you need more truck for that 5er in my opinion.

I have a VIN. That came through pretty quickly after the order. With the upgraded trailer package, my understanding is that the rear axel is the same as a 350 although geared differently. There are also springs added very similar to the 350 when you add the option I did.

If you don't have a VIN, usually you can change your specs. If your only a month out I bet it is being built. The other option is to see if the dealer will stock your special order and order you a F350. 3265 pounds is a lot of pin weight dry. I am surprised a nontoyhauler is that heavy. Must be a monster. If you want that big of a trailer, I would get a 350.

You will need to weigh the truck, getting separate axle weights. Paying attention to the rear axle wt, with full fuel, people, hitch, and any gear in the truck or bed. Most of FW pin wt goes on the rear axle.

Example: say truck rear axle weighs 3400 lbs, and trucks RAWR on door sticker is 6400, you could only add a pin wt of 3000 lbs. At the VERY least, you'd need to stay under your tire rating, which may be around 3500 lbs X2 =7000. I think that will be too much trailer for your truck.

There can big a big difference in payload capacities on a 250. I just bought a 2016 F250 crew cab with a yellow sticker payload of 3157 lbs. My truck is a 2 wheel drive with a gas V8. I have seen the same model truck with a diesel engine and 4X4 with a payload of 2200 lbs.. Just saying that not all 250s have the same capacities so a little shopping around may be in order.

3265 pounds dry pin weight. Fill up the water tank, and leave the garage empty, you're looking at 4,000+ pounds. You will most likely be over RAWR and possibly over the rear tire ratings.

Go to a dealer and check the yellow and white sticker inside the driver's door of other F250 diesel limited trims.

I bet you have about 1800 - 2000# payload. That's going to mean you'll need to shop for a pretty small 5er (maybe one of the "half ton series models some make) if you want to stay under that GVWR limit.

Trailer towing weights are higher than 5th wheels because of less weight on the hitch.
