Top of the morning-

Has anyone had their T.T. service while under warranty and it takes a long time for them to get to it so they can work on the issue? When we first bought it they told us, since you bought it here you will be one of the first one to get taken care of. Wow never the less its been a month an the unit still hasn't been looked at. Perhaps is because they are taking care of the new buyers first, so they can seal the deal on the sale? While mine it still sitting there collecting dust! Memorial day no T.T. So I call 2 weeks ago to get an update, they told me there is 5 more people ahead of you. OK... Now you must be wondering what is wrong with the unit? Well I just can't get water to go into the T.T. from the W.T or city hook up.:M

Happy memorial day to all. Be safe..

I had posted this back in May 25 2014. Someone asked me to let them know what was the problem on why I did not had water in T.T. once the shop go it fixed. after almost 6 weeks in the shop and many calls, and an email finally got it back this past Saturday. The problem was that it need it the city water fill replace. ( City water hook up )Wow six week for this? Ok enough of that I got my baby back and I'm happy:)

If I HAVE to take my trailer somewhere for a repair that is beyond my capability ,I have found a shop that does only RV repair. No Sales. It is owned by a couple who have been in business for 40 years. They now have a grandson as an apprentice in their shop so eventually he will take over the business.
If you can find a reputable shop that does service only(no sales) you will be a much happier camper. Their reputation is earned by doing prompt, quality work the first time .
But first of all use the internet to learn all you can about doing any repairs yourself.
I do the same, I use Discount RV in my area. No way I would let it sit all summer.

It is true that with a TT there is some assembly required, and a good bit of maintenance.

I guess one lesson to be learned, is to ask the dealer how quickly it can be looked at or fixed.

If I were in this situation I would tell the dealer I am picking it and will dry camp rather than miss out on a trip.

Also, you might be able to find a local repair service but I would certainly try to fix it myself first.

It wouldn't do for me. I would be on the phone starting with Keystone to see if it has even been ordered and if it has, I would be on the phone every day with the service manager asking about the status and with the GM of the dealership asking him just how much he wants to sell me that next trailer. If it has not been ordered, someone would really be scratching for a good reason. There's no excuse for poor customer service, not even a heavy workload, and I seriously doubt that any dealer is 3 months out on repairs. If they were, and I were the GM, I would be asking why. But then, I care about my customers and repeat business.. Many do not. Keystone and many of their dealers seem to be quite comfortable with the "first time, one time" segment of the RV market.

If I could pull apart a vacuum bonded wall, re-fix the stud that popped loose from the top plate of the wall at the front end of the slide which was noted on the sales agreement, i'd be all over it. I have the skills, but dont have the time, amd if I was going to do it myself I would have gotten a few thousand dollars off the purchase

+1.

I do it myself, it gets done on my schedule and to my standards, not a tech that wants to crank it out so he can move on to the next job.

wow - have to say that I've been lucky. but it all depends on what is being worked on or rather what the service dept. says they worked on. i.e we had a torn awning and it took a month, insurance issues, parts, etc. but on some electrical issues - a week. it has never been less than a week, but must say one time coming in from camping, called from on the road and the took my trailer straight to service. two strategies in dealing with them:
straight talk to the service agent, explaining your frustration and time wasted.
mention that you will complain on the internet ; yelp, surveys , etc. if the first strategy doesn't work.
there are private shops that you can go and get your rv serviced or as I did recently; cleaned and treatemy rubber roof. took a days worth of camping, but saved hundreds.

Very, very thankful to have a DH who can and does fix most anything. Sometimes I have to remind him a few times :), but sooner or later. He used to do all our auto repair and is completely frustrated that manufacturers have made it near impossible to do much but change the oil and add windshield washer solution.

At the risk of repeating our pleasure of dealing with RVW, both the microwave and stereo went out a couple of weeks before our warranty expired. He called their customer service, the rep got all the info, had to see exactly if FR or Magic Chef was replacing the micro and we had both within a couple of weeks. Each of those projects was about a 1 brew project and we were good to go.

If you are dealing with the dealer that sold you a particular brand TT, I'd be on the phone to the manufacturer letting them know what lousy service you're getting....and the dealer usually blames to manufacturer to cover their own A**. When DH was talking to RVW, they mentioned taking the trailer to our local PITA dealer to make sure it was the stereo and not the antenna. DH told them what this dealership is like and the rep said they'd heard that several times recently and would be dropping them from their network. DH told him he'd go to Auto Zone and buy an Auto antenna to double check the stereo and RVW volunteered to reimburse the cost of the antenna.

Sounds like some of these repairs could be completed DIY with some help from a handy friend and save a lot of frustration and time NOT camping.

I wonder if they are blowing you off because you won't be paying them and putting everyone ahead of you that are paying for the repairs.

I have been very fortunate and have a friend who does mobile rv repairs and he is always happy to look at my issues and fix them himself or he tells me how to fix the problems.

I would say it's case of a poor dealer. Our first dealer (local) was like that on a Forest River product. For warranty issues, they wanted you to drop your trailer off and they wouldn't take your word for what needed fixing. Then they'd look at it to determine what needed to be done (and OMG, it's exactly what you told them, pfft.). Next, they'd contact the factory for authorization which would take 1-2 weeks. Then they'd order parts - another 1-2 weeks. When the parts arrived, they'd schedule the work into their busy schedule to suit themselves. Twice, it took nearly 1 1/2 months for straightforward repairs. Fortunately it was at the end of the season and if this was in the peak summer season, we would have been super choked. We'd never go back there for anything. The service manager was quite rude as well.

A simple bathroom door adjustment took 3 visits to fix it. First they made it a little better. Second visit, they made it worse. On the 3rd trip they got it done okay. It took over a year to get faulty brakes fixed which had grease or cosmoline in them, a broken spring and 4 warped drums. Two windows would not close tightly. So rather than tweek the frames, they replaced the entire windows (long shipment time to the dealer too), one of which was a large picture window. It seemed to be a make work project for them...

I've said a number of times, when looking for a new RV, also check out the dealer. You can find the best of units out there, but a bad dealer can turn things into a nightmare.

Our current dealer is great. If something needs attending to, you can take it there right away and they will fix it right away. I don't know if they are empowered differently to go ahead with repairs, but I'm sure they don't want a unit sitting around on their lot any longer than it absolutely needs to.

They've had mine since October last year. they called last week to say all done, went there and lost it as 2 of 3 things were not done. Compensation is now coming my way for 6 trips back and forth and they broke my sales agreement as 1 of them was a condition of sale they now say can't be fixed.
