Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photos

Without going into too much painful detail, we had a mishap several week-ends ago. While working with sand bag crews on the Mississippi River, the truck and camper fell into the flood waters as a road collapsed. Because of a number of issues dealing with the wrecker truck, we had to release the camper as the truck was reeled up over the bank. The good news is that the truck is as good as new after a thorough rinsing, inspection of brakes, etc. The bad news is that the camper was thoroughly drowned. A lot of people had far worse trouble than we did, so we consider ourselves lucky. The floods are ongoing as I write.

Our planned trip to Montana in June is called off. heh.

However, I have now convinced my dear Jane that its time to really update the TC. After drying for several days we pulled out the interior. Amazingly the Zolatone paint that I had applied last year is good as new after a cleaning.

Without burdening the TC family overmuch, I'd like to ask some advice other than don't park too near a flood :-).

My DW was overjoyed that I had a plan for the bathroom: a composting toilet developed by Nature's Head http://www.natureshead.net/. Our holding tank was practically unusable and there was no real grey water tank on the 67 Avion. Our plan is to rip out the bathroom and install one of these and converting the blackwater to a greywater tank. Any experience with this?

Finally, the roof. I admit that I have not really done the work I should have. Now, I need to remove the various sealants on the roof and repair it. We are also setting up for a solar installation. Any advice as to this?

Here's hoping I have posted the pictures correctly. And many thanks in advance for your advice.

Cajunavion, I hope you took my comment as an admiring one. I'm having to do a lot of visualization and mental travel in order to keep myself focused and moving forward! And we sure enough need a sense of humor.

Whoa D1. "C-A" were fighting words with the Cajuns I knew growing up. And we learned never to provoke a "C-A" without a serious backup plan in place.

We need to talk this out at Muley Point. I'm inviting the Great Whazoo and Seldom Seen to facilitate.

We drove our pickup to the top of Mount Washington (bikes hanging off the back), much to the chagrin of the guards at the entry shack. But we had pre-measured and so they gave us our CD and off we went; 1/4" within tolerances LOL.

Can't you just see a troop of Avions cruisin' New England in the Fall?

Now Mt. Washington I could do , it's less than an hour away . Maybe we could join the antique auto race and take them to the top :B . BTW you are suppose to peddle the bikes up the Mount , that's another race for the hearty . I once took a motor cycle up the road on a windy day . You had to lean the wrong way going around some of the turns . At the top we had to lash the bikes to the hitch rails so they wouldn't blow over .

Right on, Cajunavion! We needed a little dose of coonass philosophy! Now we just need to figure out a way to be at the same mental Muley Point at the same time!

Howdy!
Do you not already know it does not matter where one is,
only where the mind is. Are we not all at Muley Point. At least
while we are talking and working on Avions?

I hear the spring and disclaimer thing. It seems Lil' Queeny took the summer off. (So many summer projects - so little time). It's a good thing we have long winters in Wyoming. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh! And by the way, I'm sure a Muley Point exists over there on the west coast too. (doh!)

Ah, now we seem to have arrived at the crux of the biscuit: the essential nature of Muley Point. Thank you, Dave, for helping us to understand this truth.

Now we just have to get ourselves mobilized to get there, wherever the "there" may be.

I may be mobile by the spring...

Perhaps "Muley Point" will become the name for ANY Avion get together at anyplace or anytime. It might be called Muley Point 1, Muley Point 2, etc.

I think I heard one reference that there should be a Muley Point at Yellowstone, and I'm sure there should be several in the east, south and midwest. And having been on it myself with a pop-up, I could see a Muley Point of Avionistas along the Denali Highway in Alaska. I'd imagine a future Muley Point at Muley Point Utah might be a great choice too!?

Dave, Dick and D have finally defined "Muley Point". It's a place where we meet...anytime and anywhere. I hope its sooner rather than later that we have a "Muley Point".

Heh! We might crank up Indiegogo and crowdsource Garry's return to the US for the 1st intergalactic meet up of Avionistas at Muley Point.

Sensational! I wasn't able to download the photos on my iPad but I'll give it another try tomorrow with the desktop. It's great to have you back. You are officially invited to the First Avionista Rally at Muley Point, Utah. You'll meet D1trout and 69avion and Garry and me, along with dozens of other Avionistas. At least that's my hope ๐Ÿ˜‰

We'll see.

Forward!

D

Sorry guys, but at least till I move out of Alaska, I do not see me making it to a Rally, as I am not able to take that long of a time off of work to schedule the ferry, drive the whole state and the Al-Can, and then to Utah... then back...
I really want to, but right now definitely not in the budget... time or $$$...
