I have resurrected my blog as a training aide if anyone wants REAL information about how to go about doing the job properly. Comments are welcome and encouraged as there are many terrific ideas that others bring to the table. However, no information that would violate a nondisclosure agreement will be allowed, and will be deleted immediately. Here's the link... Had an adult cougar cross just in front of the RV, as the DW stepped out the door to walk the dog. As I said, we are waaaay out in the bush....:B WOW! Was she cute? :B Sorry Bob...couldn't resist.Re: Information Discussion for Gate Guards Ken and Di wrote: Need quick reply if you are on tonight and can help. I am traveling from Houston to San Angelo tomorrow will I be passing any gate guard sites I could take a look at? Just kinda want to see what the just of it is...would bring fresh food LOL Probably so...just have to keep an eye out. Most gate guards are friendly enough to tell you anything you want to know if you stop.Re: Information Discussion for Gate Guards jetboater454 wrote: And I thought in the 90's was hot.Even the pool is kind of warm.Think if I was there I'd put one of those blue ice things under my hat.:B It would last about 5 minutes. At least you'd be cool for 5 minutes though. :BRe: Information Discussion for Gate Guards The Texan wrote: Cole said to give him a call, when we were ready to close this gate and he would have a gate for us. We are still considering the offer. The other company we plan on contacting is C & K Rentals in Cuero, which has a very good reputation among their employees. All I can tell you is that Sitewatch REALLY cares about their people. Cole tends to be a bit picky about who he hires. Honestly, I like that! I have seen some folks working for other gate guard companies that I wouldn't let guard my underwear drawer. Would I steer you wrong, Bob? :CRe: Information Discussion for Gate Guards mdbass wrote: I will not be able to reply to this post as I have no internet. I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and help. I have found short term employment with Site Watch. I have someone checking out other possibilties, too. I really like this little community. BTW Missy will be back 2nd week of June! Welcome to the crew! Awesome place to work!Re: Information Discussion for Gate GuardsWe had a funnel cloud almost touch down between us and the rig. It was right next to a tornado. Formed right where it was supposed to in the wall cloud...textbook! I told DW to get ready because we were about to beat cheeks! It just never quite formed...wasn't quite "organized" enough. What followed was straight line winds that almost tore the top off of our motor home. It literally is held by Eternabond. I'll post pics as soon as I get a chance. Calling insurance company and trying to figure out what to do at this point. I doesn't appear to be leaking inside, but I promise you it's leaking down the wall. Ripped the seam from stem to stern all except what was Eternabonded. Funny now...not so much earlier. Then round two...another wall cloud not 20 minutes later tracked exactly the same path as the first, but it was far too disorganized. Even attracted the attention of a storm spotter who stopped at the gate to watch it. At this point we're thinking we might as well stay put until the adjuster makes it out in a couple of days. Stay safe everyone!!Re: Information Discussion for Gate GuardsHad a construction guy stop by the gate a couple of days ago with a 2 foot rattlesnake in his toolbox. He said he was taking it to Freer to sell it. Apparently, according to him, they buy them for rattlesnake roundups. According to him they give a thousand dollars for 6 footers. I'm not so sure I believe that. Kinda like paying for fleas or something.Re: Information Discussion for Gate Guards Don/Shar wrote: This morning was very productive. I saw two more rattlers, didn't kill them just let them go their own way. The one on top is not a rattler. It's kinda hard to tell from the pic, but it looks to be a bull snake.Re: Information Discussion for Gate GuardsI miss snow...a little bit.
