We have camped on the Oregon Coast in some pretty intense wind too. I never worry about bringing in wet slides of anything as the water is dumped off when I retract the slide. the biggest thing I have noticed is the install. if they are installed properly they work great. I wont be without them. I did go without them on the first trip and it sucked packing up in pouring rain and bringing the wet slides in. I dont worry about that anymore.Re: Ground Control 3.0I have the remote and use it to control the jacks all the time. Makes it nice being able to lower or raise the trailer from inside the cab of the truck when hitching up.Re: Slide Out Awning QuestionI have Dometic ones on my 5th wheel and the bracket and the awning arm are less than 1" apart but have never hit. Mine were installed by a rv tech and work awesome. We were in sustained 20-25 mph winds at the coast and they made no noise at all and were tight when we brought them in. They do pool water but they are tight enough to drain it off as it comes in. (just dont stand under the end of the slide)Re: tires, tires, tiresI put Goodyear Endurance tires on my Cougar 32RLK 5th wheel about 600 miles ago. Not a ton of miles yet as we only camp about once a month at the coast. That being said I have never had to add air to them since install. They are a well built tire. I have towed in the rain to 100 plus degrees and not had any issues. I think they are a great tire and the trailer tows great with them on. I check tire pressure every time before I pull and it has been good every time.Re: Lippert Auto Leveling system operating questions john&bet wrote: Our paperwork even came with a dvd on it, which I have not looked at yet. I have managed to auto level it twice with no problem. In my opinion it not something to get stress out about. While I had no problem operating my same system my dealer suggested I watch the video and I am glad I did. It explains the whole menu nd what the system does. one touch operation to reconnect is really cool and easy to get back to hitch height. It isn't a long video but definitely worth it.Re: which fifth wheel hitch in moderate price rangeI have a 16K Reese pulling a Cougar 327 and have zero issues with it. I found it on CL for $125 as I already had the rails as it was my dads old truck. It hitches solid and now with the brake controller adjusted right it does not chuck like people like to complain about. I know people on here dont like the Reese but I have had no issue with it. My Dad has been pulling with the Reese for about 7 years now without issue either. I know it isn't an Anderson or a BW or some other fancy one but I like my Reese hitch personally and would buy it again.Re: Question on voltage monitorsOK quick follow-up to this little issue with having the wrong EMS. I took it back on friday and asked why if I had a 50 amp trailer they sold me a 30 amp ems. honest mistake the guy thought I had bought a 30 amp unit. they gave me full credit of the 30 to exchange it for a 50X and discounted the price difference even. I am happy with that and the dealer I feel was fair. Thanks for all the infoRe: Question on voltage monitorsThey sold me the one that plugs in to the power box at the campground. I asked about the one that measures high and low and all the other problems people have talked about. it is guaranteed if something happens to it that you send it in and they reset it and send it back. I don't remember the exact model number but I looked at it last time I went out to the trailer at the storage lot and it was a 30 amp. I know the 50 is going to cost me more but I figure since I have a 50 amp trailer I should run 50 amp much as I can and I don't know why they sold me a 30 amp. I wasn't paying attention as that was the day we did PDI on our new 5th wheelRe: Question on voltage monitorsThank you for all the replies. It makes sense to me and that confirms what I was thinking. I think the fact that they had it hooked to 30 amp at the dealer using the 50 to 30 adapter which they gave me is probably why they sold me a 30. since I have a 50 amp hookup on the 5th wheel I figured I would hook 50 on all chances I can and having a 50 amp surge protector makes senseQuestion on voltage monitorsOk so I took everyone's advice and bought a progressive industries voltage monitor for our new 5th wheel. The guy who was helping me put stuff together gave me a 30 amp one. My trailer has a 50 amp cord and while they say I wont need 50 amp could I exchange the 30 amp for a 50 amp monitor and use it for both when I dont have a 50 amp connection? if I am only plugged into a 30 amp connection my electronics knowledge says no issue with a 50 amp monitor but not knowing these particular units will the 50 amp think the voltage is to low when only plugged into 30 amp. I would think plugging into 50 amp when I have it is the best option. sorry if the question seems silly but i am still trying to learn here. Thanks for the replies in advance
