I have been trying to find out of there is electric hookups at the Provencial Campgrounds along the TransCanada Highway. There appear to be a great many places to stop overnight. We are going from NH to WI via Canada

Yes, you do that, Gary.
I was just there two days ago again.
Nicely hooked up to power and water. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am glad that all has been restored. I had quoted from the website,as was aobvious, so the information I gave was what was correct at the time. When I went thru in August, it was still correct. So, now services have been made right..in time for closing for the year.

There are electrical hook ups at the provincial park between Cache Creek and Kamloops BC
It's the park at the Thompson River, Juniper Beach and down the road at Steel Head.

Nope..there are not. Sorry.

"June 18, 2013 - Juniper Beach Electrical Campsites power outage and Shower Building shut down.

Due to possible electrical hazards at the campground all electrical service to the campsites will be shut off for the foreseeable future. We regret the inconvenience, however public safety is paramount in our decision to shut down this service at this time. Camping and water hook up is still available at the sites at the non-electrified fee of $21.00 per night."

If you need to carry 100' of electrical cord, how can you possibly calls that camping???? Where I go at times lucky to have a 12 volt battery in my camper and truck.I sure remember the good ole days when you had a tent and quiet, and no power to be seen for miles.

LOL - Yup - I remember the good ole days too - but now I've got an Airstream and 100' of electrical cord ..... I guess maybe it could be called camping with an age appropriate adjustment .....

Yes, some of the Ontario provincial parks have long runs from the pedestal to the RV, 50 ft. is not uncommon. We carry a couple of 30 amp extensions "just in case". We have camped in a couple of sites where even these weren't long enough so we also carry a 90 ft. 15 amp cord.

If you go to the provincial park website I believe they give the cord length, and a lot of park offices have extension cords that they can lend you.

I carry 65' of 30amp cord and had to borrow two additional cords two weeks ago at pinery PP. Even with the 4 cords I had to reposition the RV so I could reach the pedestal.

Be prepared for everything at an Ontario PP.
