Last year when we went to Disney we go sidetracked and went in a back way to the Fort. I had to do U turn and want to avoid that again. What is the preferred way to get to the Fort if heading in from I4 West(South). tks

I would use the Fla 192 West to World Drive option. Then follow the signs and don't let any of the tailgaters rush you.

Enjoy!

From the north I would get off at Exit 67, the exit for Epcot and Disney Springs (it's a double lane exit, get to the right). This will put you on Epcot Center Drive. What you are doing is driving past Epcot and heading towards the Magic Kingdom. Once you get past the exit for Epcot get in the right lane. You will see a sign for the Magic Kingdom and Wilderness Resort. Take this exit which is World Drive. Stay on the far right until you get to Vista Drive, which is immediately after the Magic Kingdom entrance. Turn right. The Fort will be on the left.
This is one of two good ways to get there from southbound I-4. As I'm sure you know the signage at Disney is great, so I doubt you will have any problems. Have a safe trip!

Normally, I would agree with this. However, the construction around the 536/Buena Vista Drive interchange is HUGE right now. The lanes that would head to World Drive shift to the left and narrow. If you're comfortable with a short distance of narrow lanes, this should be fine. If you're not, just go to the Osceola Parkway West or 192 West exits into Disney and then to World Drive. Easy drive.

x2 on taking exit 62, World Dr. Take World Dr right to the Magic Kingdom Parking lot toll booth, stay in 2nd lane from right (right line is for WDW busses only). They will direct you to Fort Wilderness, only 2 turns until check in. No parking fee.

The easiest thing to do would be to swing by Illinois and pick me up. I will gladly navigate for you. ๐Ÿ˜„

There's no great way. Its not like a direct link there. But since you've been driving for so long, a few more minutes are no big deal because you're now on Disney property!

We go exit 64 to 192. Then take the next exit onto World Dr. Run that all the way to the MK toll booth. Stay to the right except for the bus lane. But once you go through the toll booth, take that right onto Vista Blvd.

Edit: I just saw you're coming from the south. Why not just exit at World Dr., exit 62?
