Traveling from Globe, AZ, to Wickenburg, AZ, on US Hwy 93. Can someone advise on the best way to skirt Phoenix and get over to US 93. Been a few years since we traveled thru Phoenix. Any advice is appreciated. Cheers..

Driving thru Phoenix is never fun, but no worse than other large metro areas. I would try 60 to the I10 to the 303 to the 60.

At 10:00 am you won't even have a slowdown with this route.

This does not happen all the time but this time I agree with 2gypsies last statement. Tucson is not bad but it is a tiny town compared to Ungodly Phoenix.

Visited a relative in Queen Creek for a month. Riding to various places with them at various times of the day on various days, we never did see anything but traffic and slow going. I wouldn't try driving thru that city if you paid me.

Came through PHX Friday afternoon around 3PM took 1.5 hrs. You either go through PHX at 20 MPH over the speed limit or at 20 to 30 MPH

If your really wanting bypass Phoenix just go over to Gila Bend and then up to Buckeye on the far west end and out of Phoenix traffic back onto I-10. Much more relaxing.

I've driven the motorhome between Sedona and Apache Junction (and back) for over 20 years (even before 101 and 202 were built). From Globe, using 60 to 101 or 60 to 202 to 101 is the way to go (as others advised). I usually just decide as I'm driving on 60. If the traffic flow is fine, I'll just stay on 60 to 101. If it's a little slow, I'll get onto 202 to 101.

From Globe get on the Red Mountain Hwy (202)at Ellsworth Rd. (Apache Junction) to the 101 to I-17 north to 74 west (Carefree Hwy) to Wickenburg.

It's really not a bad drive if you can drive it between 9-2 - avoid rush hours and Sunday morning is even better.

At Apache Jct. don't keep going on Hwy 60 to I-17 - that's where the traffic will be.... get off on the 202.

I have been a lot of places and driven a lot over a lot of years - Phoenix is the worst. Visited my brother in Apache Junction and our rv park was on the west side of town byt the interstate. We left his house about 12:45p to beat the rush hour...we had stop and go most all the way across town. We have come down north to south midday and found the same thing.

We no longer go anywhere near Phoenix.
