Highway Shootings Precautions

With the rash of shootings along I-10 in Phoenix and the unsolved shootings along I-25 in Northern Colorado, have you taken any precautions traveling in these areas. If so, what have they been? I guess the safest course is to avoid the areas or re-route. For those in these areas, do you think the increased police presence has made the area safer? CW may need to add Kevlar to their catalog/store inventory. Sadly, it's becoming like Kabul over here.

I covered the roof of my motorhome in sandbags, and ordered bullet proof glass, like I have for my car. Sadly I have to delay my trip, because the bullet proof glass in 4' square sheets takes extra time for delivery. . .

If that's not enough...

You can get the interior rhino-lined, it helps a little with IED's in case this particular nutjob gets more bold. Some gun shows have surplus vietnam-and-later era flack vests.

Or you can just avoid the immediate area with a quick detour. It's your call. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi from Scottsdale. . . interesting, only one comment from PHX, & he thinks the traffic here is the worst he's ever seen ? Clearly never driven in Atlanta or L A ! anyway, nobody arrested yet, except for 3 teens who are admitted copy cats. (with rocks & a slingshot) Also no one injured, which seems real odd, like maybe somebody is trying to make police look bad ? TV psychologists are arguing over profile here daily. Reward is up over $20k. . . Most people are trying to avoid section of I-10, mostly through central Phoenix. Hope they catch them soon, Regards, Craig

Just get a M1A2 Abrams and you'll be good to go.

Or an armored "Conquest Vehicles Knight XV".

At $900,000, lot less than an Abrams. :C

Breaking News.

Last night an incident occurred.....vehicle window shot out on fwy. License plate number taken and given to MCSO (Sheriff Joe Arpaio)
Today 3 teenage boys (18) arrested...admitted to shooting at 6 pedestrians and 6--7 vehicles with a sling shot

NOT the fwy shooter....copy cat shooting

Well.......
The 19 yr. old taken into custody (with Mom in white Tahoe) was arrested but on suspicion of marijuana possession.

Official have confirmed 11 incidents.
8 with bullets and 3 with 'projectiles' (BBs/pellets)
They do NOT think ALL are related.
3 different scenarios ---- bullets involving random shootings, BBs/Pellets and a 'road rage'

This behavior is not just in one place.

News in Detroit the past two weeks was reporting vehicles shot on I-69 between I-94 and Coldwater, and on I-94 near Battle Creek. Shooters don't have to be targeting travelers on the highway, they just have to be shooting somewhere, even randomly, as some firearms can have a mile or more range.

When I came down I-69 Thursday, my van did not get shot. I did get on at Coldwater, and went south from there.

Would you avoid traveling in all areas everywhere?

I drive 100 miles on I-25 in and out of Fort Collins every day. I give it - oh - 0.00 amount of worry.

There's a whole lot of people in Phoenix. FLIR would find them all.

I had assumed, maybe in error, that the shooter(s) were located in a rather sparsely populated area (like a desert?) instead of in an urban area.

I believe these shootings are happening right in the middle of the Phoenix urban area.

They indeed have and on a stretch of one of the most congested areas of the freeway but not all have occurred on the I-10.

I am stunned that someone would have b*lls enough to fire weapons repeatedly in an urban area and no one noticed them. Oh well, hopefully it's them that they got.
