How long for the trip North?

How long are y'all planning for next year?

No reservations, no solid dates yet but so far we are looking at about 140 days door to door. Not counting the air miles but the trailer miles will be a bit under 14,000 & figure at least a couple thousand worth of additional running around.

We'll be leaving for Canada and Alaska about July 11,2018 and won't be back till about the end of Sept/early Oct. This will be our second trip and it was over 16,500 miles. We made only one reservation during the entire 2015 journey and that was the Arctic Tour at Deadhorse/Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.

The old road from Tuk to Inuvik was sort of an ice road over the braided delta. In late 2017, Canada finished an all weather route between those two towns. It has features like fabric under the gravel to keep the permafrost from melting and the surface from heaving. The old route is now closed!

Just wondering we took a road in NWT in 2007 that used to be a dogsled trail to Inuvik, Not sure spelling is right been a long time,LOL,Used to have to take a plane to Tuktoyaktuk,Does the new road start at the same place,I think it was near Chicken,Thanks

We leave for AK in April, the camp grounds going up are mostly empty, the streams are full, trees are starting to leaf out and every thing is clean and fresh.
Coming home in June the camp grounds are crowded, road work is in full swing, and it is usually hot. and the bugs are out in mass.
my advise is simple go up early, stay where the bugs aren't and come home after sept. and the frost has killed the bugs, and turned the leaves to color.

If you're retired plan to cross the Canadian border the end of May and return the beginning of September. Spend all summer on the trip. You may never get back to do it again. Might as well see everything!

last summer we booked all of aug. to do the run north to alaska from vancouver.we made it as far as smithers.we weren't even close but we had a blast and found some awesome sites to boondock and we did very well with the big water fishing.we will be doing it every august till we actually make it up there.i figure it will take at least 7 years at the rate we are going.i guess it's obvious we love to do the back country exploration stuff.we kept finding quiet little lakes and promising to camp for 1,maybe 2 nights then move on.didn't quite happen that way.

We'll be traveling on the new road, we're planning that as part of our journey in 2018 heading up from Southern California after July 4th. Looks like you'll beat us there.

Wife was raised in Stewart and we have been back many times.... yet to see it busy.

The next time we go, hopefully in 2 years, we are planning on late May thru early Sept. 11000 miles for us. Last time we did it in 7 weeks. That was WAAAAY to fast. Hoping next time time to enjoy more of Canada!
