The Alaskan Highway has a lot of repaired frost heaves and maybe some that aren't repaired. But the biggest issue is the large amount of rocks on the Rocky Mountain sections to Ft Nelson.

Sanjim, I don’t think you are too late to enjoy Alaska as we are starting way home. We are heading to Skagway today and then back to Whitehorse to begin heading south. The Salmon are just starting their run up the rivers so if you are into fishing you timed it right. How has the road been coming up on the Alaskan Hwy from Alberta? I came up on the Cassiar (Hwy 37) through BC which was not as bad as I thought it would be. In June there was a lot of construction and delays on the Alaskan Hwy.

We are in Ft Nelson today. Haven't seen anyone on the way up with a sign. just wondered if we are late coming , or what. Headed to the Hot Springs in a couple days and the will make our way to Valdez for the ferry. Hope to be there by the 21st or 22nd. Sure hope to meet some of you. Anybody have suggestions for us as we go. Rained all night in Dawson Creek, sure put a damper on our plans.
Really enjoy the blog, thanks Jane for getting it going.

We are heading to Indiana for Scottiemom's H.S. Reunion Aug 10th. We are in Haines jumping on the ferry system tomorrow afternoon. Making stops at Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan for a couple of nights each. We end our ferry hopping at Prince Rupert where we hit the Trans-Canada Highway. We will follow it across Canada and past Winnipeg before cutting south, to see friends in Sioux Narrows Ontario, then on to Goshen for the reunion. We are at mile 7130 of our trip this morning.

We have been in Dawson City since Wed. waiting for word about the Dempster. I think we are going to have to move on. Are we the only ones going home? lizzie

Lizzie, the highways crew tweeted that one lane is now open on the Dempster. http://www.511yukon.ca/ has also been updated to show one lane open now.

The highway crews in the north are amazing! These folks put in long hours to keep the roads open. In a place where there are no detour routes, these dedicated crews are essential!

In winter, they all do an amazing job at keeping the main routes driveable regardless of the weather.

Love our highway crews!

We will just miss you in Valdez..We arrive at Eagle's Rest on Wed and stay for 5 nights. Travel safe!

And we will just miss you, Janet. We will be in Valdez on July 21 unless we decide not to go to Kennecott due to weather. If that happens, we will be in Valdez on the 18th. Maybe we will pass you somewhere on the Richardson Highway or Tok Cutoff. Just look for a little red pickup pulling a white "Mini Lite" trailer, then honk and wave as you go by!

Thanks for all you have done getting this group "together"! It's been fun following the thread, getting ideas, and watching everyone's progress (at least when we had WiFi).

Your welcome, but really I just started the thread. Everyone here made it work. We might still be able to meet in Valdez...we don't leave til the 22nd (we get there the 17th)

Leaving late morning from Stoney Creek (Seward) for Williwaw campground in Portage. Since no hook-ups most likely won't be on internet for a couple of days. Unless our mi-fi works. If anyone there stop by and say "Hi" we will be in site #6 (I made reservations).
Travel safe everyone, and keep posting..I'm still getting ideas from all you great people.

We caught silvers in Seward on Wednesday, didn't limit but came close. Looked like most of the boats limited yesterday. The fish are starting to increase in the mouth of the bay.
