We are in Soldatna now at Klondike RV park. Nice people. Fishing tomorrow out of Ninilchik and Monday on the Kenai out of Cooper's Landing. We will go to Homer and stay at Oceanview on the 2nd and stay for a few days. Anyone else going to be there over the Fourth?
Nope, we'll be on the Hurricane Turn train on the 4th!

The play at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks (which I now call Hotbanks with the 93 degree temps) is excellent and recommended.

We also enjoyed the 110 mile bus trip in Denali today.

Gus, make sure you bring your bug spray and whatever else you use to keep the mosquitos away. Alaska is sold out.

The Downtown RV Park in Watson Lake, YT, is our home for the night. This place is packed and it is not very nice, just a dirt parking lot with hookups. One coyote was the only critter we saw, it was much prettier than those in California. Sue, we did wave as we went by and I was sure you saw us. We ate at Boston Pizza last evening even though I am tired of pizza. They had a great jambalaya fetticini even if I cannot spell it properly.

Checked your blog ... the Good Friday Earthquake ... I remember it well. Lived in Beaver Creek YT then and our lawn split open! The November following the earthquake we visited Valdez and Anchorage. Incredible amount of damage!

I was in Valdez 9 years after the earthquake and the only parts left of the old town were the streets. The only other thing in the old town was the pipe for the Alaska pipeline stacked neatly in-between each block of streets.

They were still building the new town, so the motel was almost new. Now it's nearly 50 years old!

And the 1964 quake is still the second biggest earthquake ever recorded anywhere on earth.

Gee, you drove right by our place and didn't wave? What's up with that?

Could have overnighted here too ... sigh ... :B

and I'll bet the ranch that Sues place has a lot friendlier crew than that campground or even the Walmart parking lot in Whitehorse !;)

I can guarantee that because we were guests of theirs a few weeks ago. Great time with Steve and Sue and great doggie fixes! Also, a lot of great information for the trip. Very quiet place to spend the night.

Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada is our area of residence today. For some reason I like to wave at oncoming rvs. Only about one in fifteen wave back so I have developed the technique of turning my hand around and waving at myself after receiving a nonwave. My CEO/Navigator laughed the first few times I did it, then she started calling me a dork and tried to end my waving. SLOW DOWN and drive safe.

*clap clap clap*.....nice!

fanrgs,

We've been viewing your website. What a great combination of text and photography. While currently in Fairbanks we're looking forward to having your handy website for information and viewing on our way home.

Thanks for looking! I'll try to have most of the geology for BC 97, Cassiar Highway, Alaska Highway from Watson Lake to Tok, the Tok Cutoff, and the Richardson Highway done for your trip home, depending on when you are leaving. But you may have to read it from the bottom up!

Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada is our area of residence today. We are a day ahead of our reservations so we tried to get in the Hi Country RV Park, but it was full. We are in the Pioneer RV Park east of the city. It looks bad from the road, but it has a lot of dispursed camping in pines behind and above the office. It is a pretty good place to stay. SLOW DOWN and drive safe.

just arrived at Denali Rainbow Village RV for 4 nights. 62 degrees, slight drizzle and limited visibility. Lots of smoke on the drive down from Fairbanks.

Lizzie, hopefully your fish won't look like this fish ...
Pike give a good fight and the meat is okay to eat, but there's lots of bones to pick out!

This 37 incher towed DH around for a while before it tuckered out enough for him make the capture!
