Roll Call Alaska 2013

Just thought I'd start a thread regarding who will be starting up to Alaska in 2013. It would be nice if we could share information so everyone has a memorable and safe trip.
We will be leaving around the end of May out of Las Vegas. We will be traveling with our 40' MH and towing our Equinox car. We are heading up with my husband's cousin and her husband and they have an airstream.
We have gone before but in 2005 so we are really looking forward again to the adventure. It is surely a trip of a lifetime and to do it more than once is a blessing. We are only on this earth for a short while.
Travel safe!

Janet

I see that the Alaska Bound book is back to $4.99. A person had to be quick to get it for free.

My DW and I will have our family lady dog with us, and that is an area I'm trying to learn tips on how to plan around. (Day trips she can join us on; Sightseeing where she is welcomed; Etc.)

I'm thinking because most tours include viewing wildlife, dogs are generally not welcome. In Denali National Park dogs are welcome but MUST be leashed at all times and within the park walked on roads only. No hiking trails with the dog!

We tended to avoid the commercial tours, preferring to do our own thing with our dogs along with us. When we had to leave them behind, then a good long hike in the morning set them up for snoozing the rest of the day.

Many locals in Yukon & Alaska let their dogs run loose. Some of these dogs become coyote & wolf bait. We keep ours leashed on walks and behind a fence at our cabin because some of their distant counsins frequent the area. We also have a large lynx romping around.

Wow that is quite tye list. Ill be in Alaska this summer too but I'm also here all winter as well. If you see an old beat up Itasca rolling down the road with a missing nose hatch that is me. If I'm going towards Tok or back from Tok at the end of May I'll likely be towing a BMW behind me.
1978 Itasca, It's old but I own it....

Gsmitty77 and family is doing the Victory Dance going into retirement and going with us all on our adventure to Alaska.

In 2005 when we went and had my baby Buttons then, she basically went on short walks where it was safe and always went if we were on a day of driving and sightseeing in the tow. She loved to have a picnic, so we would always plan that on driving days. We were like your wife, she was our baby and we wanted her everywhere with us, if it was safe and welcome of course.
We are not big hikers so picnics and drives worked for us.
I'm sure others will chime in. We have a great bunch of people here.
Again Welcome!
