Hi all,
Does anyone know of a good resource to find info on campgrounds across Canada?
We want to plan a cross Canada trip with our TT and would like to plan our overnight stops along the way. Recommendations would be most helpful...??
Thanks

The question would be - how long do you have? where do you want to start and where to stop.

We travled from Vancouver Island to PEI 2 years ago - I took Us 80 days I would have liked another 10 days or more, but we left in Aug. and wanted to get back before too late in Oct. I must say - we did NOT hurry - visited friends and did some touring and most days less than 500 ks. a day (NOT miles)

I'll NEVER be an "EXPERT" (In math.X is an unknown factor and a "SPURT" is just a drip - under pressure)

You could always get an RV friendly GPS.

Ours has campgrounds programmed into the maps. Just select campground in the vicinity and it shows you your options as well as the Woodall/Good Sam ratings for each as well as services available.

With that there is no need to adhere to a tight schedule. Drive until you want to stop. When you want to stop for the night you simply let the GPS find the nearest campground with the services you want. The GPS will give you the campground phone number so you can even call first and make sure they have room!

You input your RV vital statistics when you set it up and it keeps you away from low overpasses, weight restricted bridges, city centers etc. Simple, trouble free and lets you be flexible.

Is it perfect? No, but it will always get you where you want to go.

I wouldn't travel in our MH without it.

The Trailer Life Campground guide has a section that includes each province.
There are many more than what is listed in the guide but it's a place to start.
If you want to plan as you go there will be a welcome center shortly after you cross the border with plenty of information.

Our first big trip is from Ontario to Alaska and all inbetween. I plan to contact all the provinces tourism sites on line and have them send me their packages. We did this when we went east, (tenting, not in a MH). They send you everything you will ever need. You will get road maps, large books on all events and festivals going on ideas for what to see and visit, Every B&B, hotel, motel, campgrounds private and public. Coupons for things...great packages. Second big trip is from Ontario through the east coast and on to Newfoundland.

We did Ontario to Alberta a couple of years ago and played it by ear......I figure if you plan ahead, you are stuck to a schedule. If you stick to the Trans-Canada highway, there are lots of campgrounds. Took us 9 days, each way, not in a hurry
A real nice campground is Millers at Portage la Prairie in Manitoba.

Think you should contact the provincial tourism departments in each province that you plan on traveling through. We did trip thru BC,YK, and NT last summer and the info we got from each province was quite helpful. Go to google.com or some other search engine and enter the name of a province that you're interested in and see what info is available. We found that the CA folks spare no expense when it comes to providing you with travel info, they are really friendly and want you to enjoy all they have to offer.

This is a good suggestion, except for one thing. Google and Yahoo have domain sensitive search engines. One can always ask each for the domain to use. If you go to google and put in "Google Canada", it's going to give you [url]www.google.ca.

That's much more direct.

& I, I took the road less travelled by.

Thanks,
We have camped near Banff and a few other places in Alberta years ago when our kids were young, but now we are both retired so we have a lot of time. Not sure if coast to coast in one trip is in the cards but our trip through the heartland last year 6k miles in three weeks was a little aggressive. We were on a mission...lol
Probably take it real easy and enjoy the scenery

That is pretty ambitious. Are you planning a coast to coast? It might be easier if you break it down to bite size pieces.
