The Loneliest Road next week?

We are leaving Reno next Thursday and heading across Nevada on U.S. 50. Is this risky considering possible snow at the higher elevations? I'd love to see this stretch of road but may be starting out too late in the year.

Took that route east to west 2 years ago - nice ride - actually had allowed 2 travel days, but did it in one, from Great Basin NP to Reno (Sparks). They (tourism) has an "I survived the Lonliest Road" trip guide - it was fun - made us stop to see places we likely would not have otherwise. Just check out fuel stops on the eastern edge! ST

Looking at NOAA 7day forecast, around Ely they are talking of a slight chance of snow showers Thursday night (mix rain/snow). There are some modest range crossing in that area, with a greater chance that it will snow than in the valleys. Most of the route you will be around 6000ft, about the same as Reno.

I would not be concerned with the weather. Looks decent through Thursday.
