Trip Planning - A week at Legoland

Hi all, We're planning our first trip into Southern California - Destination LEGOLAND with the littles. We'll be taking our Shasta 18BH with us and spending the week camped out at KQ Ranch RV Resort (We are Coast to Coast members). I wanted to try to get a sanity check on the route options. Having never been to California, I figured I'd try to reach out here for some input on the routes Google is suggesting to me. Any thoughts? Even thoughts on whether the park in Aguanga (Sundance Meadows) is a better option to stay at?

From Pahrump, NV to KQ Ranch in Julian: Google recommends the same route as the resort.

from KQ Ranch to Phoenix, google gives me 3 options. 2 to reach I-10 via CA-78 and CA-86, and one for I-8 via CA-79

Why are my links being removed? I'm new here, is there a post count before I can add links?

We are pretty much set on staying in Julian, we will be staying there for free. And anyways we are mountain/country folk so we will probably appreciate the lack of commotion in the small town anyways. Google does suggest the 215 so I will most likely do that. We may spend a day at the beach, or hiking in the hills, possibly San Diego zoo, we didn't really expect to be in Legoland the entire time. Maybe 2 days with the water park and the associated aquarium.

Anyone have any comments on the route out, highway 79 down to I-8?

79 south out of Temecula is not too bad after you leave temecula, if it was me I'd go on down to Escondido and take 78 it will meet 79 at San Isabel, from Julian to the 8 is fairly pretty drive especially around Lake Cuyamaca, just my personal opinion

Carlsbad state campground has a pretty long waiting list, the place is packed practically year round.

If wanting to beach RV camp you'd have better luck at San Clemente State beach 20 miles to the north of Carlsbad or so.

Could always stay at my place about 15 minutes away from Legoland ๐Ÿ˜‰

To get to Julian with a trailer I think I'd take 15 South to 78 in Escondido and go up the hill from there.

If it was me----I would take I-70 to I-15 south to I-215 to I-15 north of Temecula and then follow the resort directions.... I-15 S to Temecula. Hwy 79 S to Julian. Resort approx 5 mi S of Julian on Hwy 79 on L. Roads are narrow and winding.

I would stay in Carlsbad at the state beach campground or another RV resort near the ocean... more to do and see than in Julian.

A day in LEGOLAND is more than enough. Go up to Disneyland and California Adventure for the other four days.
