Albuquerque Rv campground?

Looking to make a trip to Albuquerque mid-December, is there a campground you would recommend? Would like it to be rural with stuff to see close by.

Our experience is totally the opposite. We were just in Santa Fe again this past June. During each of our visits, have never once been approached by any homeless, and always enjoy our time there. One of our favorite destinations. We also stayed at Santa Fe Skies RV park. And we will definitely go back.

And then there is the Rail Runner between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Any campsite along I25 has access to a train commute to Downtown Santa Fe or Albuquerque.
And many points in between.

We drive west every summer and stay at the Bernalillo KOA for the past few years. Its location in the smaller community makes getting around easier and interesting sights around ABQ are nearby. If you stay, go by The Range for great New Mexican food--it is only a few blocks away. And Santa Fe is close by!

When we visited that area we always preferred staying at Cochiti Lake COE about halfway between ABQ and Sante Fe. Our favorite campsite there was Site 59 in the Buffalo Loop. Water and 50 amp available at the campsite with a dump station at the entrance.

Like any metropolitan area no RV park is by all he major attractions, reviews on Google maps are pretty accurate for RV parks in ABQ. There are a couple of casino RV parks, one on I-40 and the other off I-25, all the parks mentioned above are good although how rural they are will depend on your viewpoint. The majority of RV parks are situated along the interstates, again a decent drive is involved to get to most attractions. What we normally do is check an area for things we like to do and use google maps to see available RV parks within a half hour drive, with sky shots and 360 degree views we don't have any surprises when we arrive. Have fun in the Duke city, it will be a bit chilly in mid-December, but as long as there is sunshine the days are nice.

Coronado Campground in Bernalillo, right on the Rio Grande.
That's where we stayed & would return.
Close to all Albuquerque's sites without the inner city feel.

American RV is about as good as it gets we stayed there again a few months ago.

Route 66 RV resort is a overrated parking lot way west of the city, its 11 miles west of American and 18 miles west of Old Town

We've had good stays at the KOA too, but I wouldn't call it rural. It's actually in a sketchy neighborhood, but it's convenient if you want to see Albuquerque. It's on the east end of town though, and very close to good wildernesses, parks, and funky little Madrid. Lots to see.

It's been several years since we've visited, but we stayed at the Albuquerque KOA Journey and like it. My mother in law lived close by and this was central to many of the places she took us.
