Any Southern Florida RV spaces available now

Last minute decision to leave the cold and head to Florida. Can anyone currently in Florida advise on available of space at your location.

Looking for temps at least in the mid to high 70s. Figure we will have to be at least south of Kissimmee. Would prefer somemore toward the Gulf side. A lot of scheduled activities are not a must. Prefer setting outside reading, etc. Plus some day trips.

Would like to keep cost about $800/month. . . . . but, I realize I am talking about Florida. The colder the wife gets the more money I am willing to spend.

Our RV is a 34 foot Class A gas, with two slides. We tow a car on a dolly.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Ahh, memories! Mom (FL native) spent her teen years in Dade City, after starting life on a farm in Levi County. We spent many summer weeks in the 50's & 60's in Dade City visiting family. I still remember the sweet, sweet oranges from Grandpa's little backyard 'grove'.

Riversidervresort.com has a few open sites. 149 new sites were added this year. There has been a waiting list for the past years. Price is higher than you quote, but this is a great park. Very few leave and don't return.

If you keep you search in the middle of Florida you'll find less expensive sites. Sebring area should be wide open. Check for parks on RVParkReviews.com to find options in areas you're looking.

A few years back, we were living in Fayetteville (Arkansas) and the weather forecast predicted near zero temps for a few days. My wife informed me she was taking the RV to Florida, and I could go with her if I chose.

We left without campsite reservations, and using www.reserveamerica.com, we had no problem finding short term accommodations at state parks in Florida.

Once we got down here, we decided to put our Fayetteville home in long term rental and buy a place here and now live full time in Florida.

Now that we are here, we see lots of listings for RV sites for rent - even this time of the year.

I checked the Vacation rentals section of the Sarasota and Ft Myers Craigslist, searching for RV site, and found several that are currently available. Some for under $400 a month with full hookups - example http://sarasota.craigslist.org/vac/4277839206.html.

Also found many around Tampa - http://tampa.craigslist.org/search/vac?zoomToPosting=&catAbb=vac&query=rv+site&minAsk=&maxAsk=&bedro...

I also checked the Reserve America site a minute ago, searching the entire state, and found more than 150 available camp sites at Florida State Parks, National Parks, and private campgrounds.

Fayetteville to south Florida is a two day drive. We usually try to make it to beyond Mobile the first day, and then south of Sarasota on the second.

Have a safe trip!

Try Markham Park outside of Ft Lauderdale. That should get you some nice weather!
