Campground near Windsor, CT

In early July (after 4th of July) I will be in the area of Windsor, CT for a week (Sunday through Saturday) and need a place to park my motorhome. I am not finding anything really close. All the campgrounds seem to be about 30 miles away or so. I have been to Bear Creek in Bristol, CT, but that is still 30 minutes away. Is there anything closer to Windsor that I may be missing? Any suggestions?
Regards,
JT

For a full service campground, Nelson's Family Campground (it's been 5 or more years since we've been there) is large and well run... and about 25 minutes south:

Funny... all the years I've been camping in Connecticut, by doing a search on RVParkreviews around Windsor (lol, yes, about 25 minutes away), I just found 10 campgrounds I'd never heard of.

CT valley is all urban, as mentioned earlier the only thing you will find is parking lot type parking. There is a few real nice campgrounds I would recommend but they are 30+ minutes away. If you decide to change your distance traveling, post back or shoot me a PM as I can give you a few suggestions.

Good Luck,

I looked at RV Park Reviews, Campendium, RVParky and Allstays. The Hartford area is a black hole in the campground universe. Connecticut isn't very tax friendly and I'm sure small businesses that are only open 5 months a year have a tough time breaking even. Every time the gov. announces cutbacks because the state is running out of money, the state parks are the first to be closed.

That's life in NewYorkachusetts.

I have a campground directory but if I didn't I would do a Google search for `Windsor, CT campgrounds' and see what comes up.

Wilderness Lake in Willington CT is somewhat closer. Take state rd 140 east from windsor will get you close to the campground.

Campground is a middle of the road type place, nothing special.
