Carolinas pull through overnight sites near 95

We are traveling to Orland FL from North East MD this November for a wedding. Plan A is to take the Bay Bridge Tunnel and route 58 to Emporia VA to avoid Baltimore, Washington, and Richmond. That will take a little over 6 hours. The remainder of the trip will be nine and a half hours along 95.

What are some nice campgrounds along 95 in North or South Carolina where we can stop for the night with hookups so that 4 adults can get showers and breakfast in the morning? Pull through sites are preferred.

All pull thrus and easy on and off 95.

X2. We have stayed at the Carolina Crossroads a few times. Was a bit hard to find the first time but was well worth it. Not far at all off I95 but need to drive behind a large hotel entrance through what looks like what was once to be a large commercial area of stores/hotels. Apparently the hotel was built but not much else. The CG was great though!

That isn't a hotel, it is a theater. But you are right. It was intended to be a large commercial development, but never took off.

We like RVaction in Selma NC. I think it's exit 97 from I 95 southbound. We also really like South of the Border Campground on the border of NC and SC. South of the border also offers a very RV friendly fuel island if your pulling a towed. Both pull through friendly campgrounds too. As a matter of fact we stayed at the South of the Border campground last night.

Camp Lake Jasper in Hardeville, SC is near the GA/SC border. I stayed there for an overnight stop on the way to Myrtle Beach and found it was very easy in and out from 95. I had a pull through that was smaller than I would have preferred for longer stay, but it was level enough I didn't have to disconnect TT from truck, which was more important for an overnight.

traveling by myself, I felt comfortable getting out and walking the park, so that made it even better.

If it were me, I'd leave earlier and just take I-95 (295 around Richmond). We travel from southwest NJ (about an hour north of you) to southeast GA multiple times a year, just did it last weekend. We leave NJ at 3 am and get to the top of NC by 8 am. That's with Cruise Control on 74 and no stopping other than tolls. No traffic anywhere at 3 am.

Since you are heading to Orlando, if you need to get there earlier in the day, I'd recommend getting into Georgia. Travel hard that first day and then take a nice easy drive from GA to FL. Orlando traffic is rough almost any time of the day. We just drove to Celebration, FL (about 15 minutes south of Disney World) for the day yesterday. We left the house at 5:15 am. When we got to Orlando around 8 am, there was already traffic building. Construction is the culprit right now.

It's been a long time since we stayed at a campground along I-95. Once we bought the Motorhome, we just stopped at Walmart for a quick overnight. I have noticed most of the campgrounds (mostly KOAs) that we have stayed at before the Motorhome, no longer advertise along I-95, so I don't have any recommendations for you there.

Jacksonville FL, to Mtns of VA, we always stop at Lake Jasper in Hardeeville SC, just north of the SC/GA line. GS park, excellent facilities, bring your poptarts, no restaurant.

Just another related note regarding heading down the Eastern Shore to the Bridge/Tunnel: If you get delayed, and have to stop earlier, there are several campgrounds near the north end of the Bridge/Tunnel. The newest and nicest is the newly renovated KOA close to the Bridge. Pull through sites, full hookups, and brand new shower houses. Also a nice beach and view of the bay.

I've driven from Maryland to Florida a variety of times. Here are the places we've stopped:

Kosmos Village RV park in Glen Allen, VA - http://www.kosmovillage.com/ - kinda trashy, but fit the bill for an overnight stop
The RV Resort @ Carolina Crossroads in Roanoake Rapids, NC - http://www.rvresortatcc.com/ - nice place, offers a discount for arrivals after X:00pm
Walmart in Dillon, SC - large level lot and quiet
The Oaks at Point South in Yemessee, SC - https://www.thousandtrails.com/south-carolina/the-oaks-at-point-south-rv/ - lots of trees (I couldn't pull out of my pull-thru site due to tree placement); came with warnings from reviews to watch it if it rains
Whispering Pines in Rincon, GA - http://www.whisperingpinesrvpk.com/ - decent overnight but not a real nice place
Pecan Park in Jacksonville, FL - https://www.sunrvresorts.com/Community/PEP - fully paved sites that are surprisingly unlevel; we've always been able to stay hitched up overnight, though
Lake City RV Resort (formly known as Oaks N Pines) in Lake City, FL - http://lakecityrvresort.com/ - nice place with overnight pull throughs at one end; had one of the nicest pool tables I've ever seen outside of someone's home
Stagecoach RV Resort in St. Augustine, FL - http://stagecoachrv.net/ - decent "no frills" place. Long level pull throughs.

Ditto on New Green Acres in Walterboro, SC. it is easy access and the interstate noise is not that bad. Just make sure when you exit off and take the exit ramp you turn at the hotel which is the next right. It is a hard turn but you will miss it if you don't look for it right away. Of course this is for travelling south bound 95.

My thoughts exactly. New Green Acres is in southern SC, but it is a beautiful and clean campground right off 95. Its surprisingly quiet there, seeing as its only a couple hundred yards from the interstate. Huge pine trees give it plenty of shade, nice big sites and clean bathrooms are very nice.

Carolina Crossroads is right at the Virginia border on 95. They are pretty new and very nice. They have 10 or 12 sites that are reserved for overnight visits only. I think its $25 (full hookup!!!) if you check in after 6 and leave before 8. They have a bunch of other sites too. They have a pool, hot tub, laundry machines, nice bath house and large sites.

We've stayed at both places many times in our yearly Florida trip and really like the both of them!
