Compton Ridge Branson

Just got an email saying:

After 5 years of fighting the good fight in Branson, the Limited Partnership that owns the property at Compton Ridge Campground and Lodge has decided to close. Robert and Sandy Speight owned the operating company that leased the property from the Partnership. When the decision was made at the end of October by the Partnership, we looked high and low for a different outcome. This proved to be futile. So, we heavy hearts, Compton Ridge Campground and Lodge will close for good December 1st. All reservations for 2014 are canceled. Refund checks will be processed over the next month with the hope to have everything out by January First. There are numerous good parks in the Branson area that will appreciate your business. We apprecia te your support and wish you happy camping in the future.


Wow, we really liked staying there and have many times. Will have to find somewhere new I guess.

At the end of March Compton Ridge reopened under new management and new ownership by Ocean Canyon Properties.

I guess Compton Ridge Campground and Lodge is trying to sell memberships to Ocean Canyon Properties because they cold called us offering a “free” three night stay at their campground. Heck yes I’ll take a tour of the property and even sit through a sales pitch for three nights of “free” camping in the Branson area.

We stayed at Compton Ridge a few years back when the previous owners were still operating the campground so we are familiar with the campground. It will be interesting to see what the new managers are like and what changes, if any, have been made to the campground.

I'm guessing the Limited Partnership that owns the land the campground is on wants to sell the land to a developer or develop the land themselves into a hotel/resort. Compton Ridge was in a great location for visiting Silver Dollar City and the town of Branson.

Could it be just too many rv parks/campgrounds in the Branson area? Seems I read there are over 30 parks in the Branson area.

Lots of campers in the Branson area. I wonder what the cause of them pulling the plug is? Location? Poor management? Not enough profit for the "corporation"?

I hate to see any business go out but especially a CG.

I think Silver Dollar City was the previous owner.

We stayed there a couple of years ago and loved it. I hope someone can come in and take over the property and reopen it.

We liked Compton ridge also, so sorry to hear of it's closing. We switched to Ozark Country campground for the price. Not as scenic as Comptons but the people are nice, the price is good, the pool is huge, and the location can't be beat. We like it.

Nuts! That was one of the best campgrounds in the Branson area.

Just got the notification. We really liked this campground, some beautiful Ozark sites. There's a lot of CG competition in Branson, but few as scenic as Compton Ridge.
