We stayed on the south side the week leading up to July 4th and enjoyed being able to walk right to beach several times.
We only had two issues:
1) One day we had a bad storm and the area of the campground was under about 6" water for a day or so.
2) We repeatedly seemed to have issues with power, specifically with the A/C running. It's as if the demand was too much for the CG's supply. Several times our TT internal circuit breakers were tripped with the A/C on and anyone running a hairdryer or microwave. I've never had that issue previously. Many times the A/C seemed to slow down as if there was a brownout. And one night the whole power grid went down for a few seconds. Unfortunately it was at night and my daughter was in the bathhouse at the time, so that was kind of scary.
We drove past the north CG and it looked nice. If you are doing any kind of boating the marina is also right there on the north side just past the CG. The cottages for rent are also on the north side.
I did notice that some of the pavement on the roads in the south side CG are in pretty bad shape. There are many areas where the pavement joints are deteriorated and pavement has settled where utility trenches have been dug over the years. There was one really bad patch near our site where the CG had placed a traffic cone so no one drove into a big hole. I'm surprised they didn't address these problems when they fixed up other parts of the park after the adjacent Route 1 bridge construction project was completed.
