Dogs and camprounds

If you are traveling with a dog check to see what campgrounds offer a pet walking service. When we know that we are going to be gone for more than four hours we look for parks that have that service so that they come to our RV and take our dog for walks while we are out and about. Most do not post that the service is available so we just call and ask.

We're currently at Alpen Rose RV Park in Durango CO. They have a pet walking service - $10.00 I think. We considered it one day, but decided to not be gone as long as we originally thought. I'd use them if needed-our dog is super easy going. Thought it was a nice touch and handy. I've seen others here using the service.

Nice idea but I wouldn't let anyone else walk my dogs. If I hear my neighbors dogs barking I would let them know and I would hope if my dogs were barking I would be told.

We haven't run into a campground with the walking service, and the ones we have stayed at state not to leave unattended "outside".

Recently we parked next to a couple that left their dogs in the camper while they went out and about - the dogs barked non-stop until they got back.

Lovely.

x2 never seen a walking service since almost all say not to leave unattended

X3 We had a Class C with FIVE DOGS left in it barking all day. Let the manager know or...I put a note on their door that said "Please do not leave the dogs, they bark all day disturbing other guests, take your dogs with you"

I wouldn't let strangers walk my dogs when I'm right there, let alone when I'm not around. To my mind, that's a disaster waiting to happen.

A little off topic, did you tell them or leave a note on their door letting them know? Its possible the owners have no idea they do that. We didn't know ours did. Now we leave the radio on to drown out outside noise. Problem solved.

We stayed at a KOA in Milton, WV a couple of times and if you ask, and if they have the manpower, they will walk your dogs. I believe it is the owner's daughter and/or their son-in-law who will do it if they are available. BTW,they run a very quality place, good management.

We camped in Castaways RV Resort in Ocean City Maryland last year. We have been RVing for 34 years and this is the first CG we saw that offered dog walking services, dog park, dog beach and a dog wash station.

It is a good idea. I love to take mine on walks around the campgrounds...I tell one that we have to go on campground patrol and he likes it. We camped last week at a campground about a mile around the whole area...they did not like the walk but I got my exercise.
