Eastern Sierras, CA.....where to stay?

Well, it looks like most places near the coast and major Lakes in CA are all reserved.

So, our next idea is the Sierras.

Looking for something that has direct access to river/lake fishing and RV spots with full hookups. Don't want to have to drive to fish. Would love to cast some flies along a river right in my campground!!

Heard about Brown's Owens River but never been there.

Any of you have any ideas, from personal experiences, on where to stay based on my wants/needs?

Thanks!

Silver Lake Resort has hook-up sites right across the street from
the lakeside campground with no hook-ups.Reservations are thru the resort instead of Reserve America.

Its a tad further up 395 but Lake Topaz is a nice inexpensive campground with full hook ups. The lake is a short drive as well as that "river". There's another campground on the Calif side near by a popular fishing river that eludes me at this time, but it's name is Cliff???? its now a KOA but there prices are still reasonable.

It's called Meadowcliff Lodge and is a little on the pricey side. You can look up their website, and it is now a KOA. The river near there is the Walker River. Good fishing there in the Antelope Valley,(no, not the Antelope Valley with Palmdale in it) but you really need to know where to go as most of the property is private. We used to own property on the river in the middle of town, so I've fished there for over 40 years. We always fished in the irrigation canals just past the dump, but again, private. It's about a 10 minute drive up the canyon where there is fishing all along the Walker and lakes and streams higher up. Topaz Lake, about 5 miles past Walker/Coleville, is excellent fishing for pretty good size trout, and there is an RV park there (maybe a couple) but I don't remember if they're right on the water or not. On the plus side- Topaz Lodge- dining and gambling!

We love June Lake. Plenty of fishing within walking distance of full hookups plus an amazingly beautiful setting June Lake

As an added benefit that site I linked to has great info on that entire region.

Arnett's Twin Lakes Resort (11 miles from Bridgeport) has full hook-up sites. Both of the lakes offer good fishing. You are also close to the Walker River.

Finding that most places in Eastern Sierras do not have full hookups. Topaz Lake does so it is on our lost to call.

Any others that have full hook ups?

There are so many excellent places off Hwy 395 - a gorgeous area. Loop around the June Lake loop.

I've only stayed at no hook up spots on the east side of the Sierras.

Western Sierras you should be able to get spots at:

Shaver Lake - Camp Edison is great two other lakes further up the road.

Sequoia RV Ranch near Three Rivers, CA and Sequoia Natl Park and Kings Canyon. Great place to stay right on the Kaweah River. Good fishing and fly fishing. There is a lake nearby as well http://www.sequoiarvranch.com/
