Favorite Camping Location

I know this topic has been hashed around before but where is your #1 favorite place to camp?

Mine is Acadia National Park in Maine. It has all our favorite things to do all in 1 location. Ocean, Lakes, Mountains, Tourist trap areas, Lobster, all in one location. It also has the 100% free to use LL Bean shuttle service throughout the area. The area is also very dog friendly.

We stay outside of Bar Harbor proper at Hadley's Point Campground. It is a private family owned and operated campground with decent sized sites and amenities.

Where do you like to go.

We have been to many of the places mentioned here. We have traveled from east to west 4 times, up north and around NE many times and down the eastern seaboard via the Appalachians 3 times. We have stayed at so many beautiful campgrounds. We especially love the National Parks and the Florida state parks. But my all time favorite will always be Lake Forest RV Resort in East Wakefield NH on the pristine Great East Lake and within drivable distance of the NH White MTs. We have stayed there so many times since we started in 2007 that it feels like home.

It's hard for me to say.

There are so many factors in determining what makes something a favorite place that sometimes it's not the place that makes it great. It could be the places we visit while in the area or the friends that come with us that make it great.

I couldn't decide so I asked my 6 year old daughter. Her favorite place is the Yogi Bear in Fremont Indiana. It's a huge RV park next to a freeway in the middle of nowhere with 500 sites. It has a water park, water slides, 4 pools, golf carts, fishing lake, water balloon fights, bouncy pillow, putt putt, etc. It's not at all a quiet camping experience and I think that's why she likes it so much.

As of right now, Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort is probably our favorite overall. Favorite beach rv park would be Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach, followed by Topsail in Santa Rosa Beach. Favorite mountains spot would be Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina.

There are only 2 or 3 of us left on here! :W

Yeah DJ, that's why there are only four pages of responses so far:W and why our favorite is so crowded we seldom can get in.:(

Would you believe that the few of us post with multiple accounts? :B

I feel for you about no availability at your favorites. Down here in Florida, it gets just about impossible for spur of the moment trips from November through March. Occasionally we can get in, but difficult on weekends.

I'm not going to post it here as it is now so popular we can seldom get in and have to reserve 6 months in advance, but, I will tell you of one right here in California. It is Kirk Creek on Hwy One. Many times each year I like to go somewhere and unwind from all the stress of family, Doctors and the S&B and just watch rocks grow.

A beautiful spot over looking the Pacific and the hope of a Green Flash at sunset makes places like Kirk Creek irresistible.

For everything else that drew us to the life style, we are still looking for the "everything camping spot". Going to Grand Canyon in May, we will go to the north rim after the Association meeting is over, we hear it is spectacular, it is always possible that it is the one.

We love Acadia/Bar Harbor, we usually bring our TT but sometimes just check ourselves in to the Bar Harbor Inn, and let them pamper us.

We've been all over the US, but our favorite place is in the North Georgia mountains. We have our TT permanently parked there now, due to poor health, and we are so happy to still be able to camp up there. It's really God's country.
