Found new favorite campground

[Crawfordville]

This past weekend we went to Cotton Hill campground near Blakely, Georgia. It is a Army Corp. of Eng. campground on the river. To our surprise it is absolutely beautiful. It has full hookup, we were able to get 15 air channels and the view from our campsite was breathtaking. The spacing between the sites is quite roomy. We brought our boat and had a great time wandering on the lake. Didn't catch anything but still had fun. The boys were able to experience going through a lock for the first time which was a really neat experience.

We have a 32 and there would be plenty of room on both ends. If you have a 38' I don't think you would have any problems.

Thanks! After looking at the pictures of the sites on the recreation.gov website, I, too, think we wouldn't have a problem unless the roads in the park are tight. Looks like there would be plenty of overhang area.

I don't think you can beat Georgia's COE parks. I have been to several and every one of them was excellent.

The water is fresh lake water - not clear. The bottom is sandy/muddy.

When we travel, we always try to stay in COE campgrounds.

Some are better than others, but never have been in a "bad" one.

Can't say that about private parks.

We went to Cotton Hill several years ago and I never knew they were Full Hook up sites there. At that time I never seen any with Sewer. We enjoyed our stay there also.

Most folks probably think of GA and ALA just very hot places to be at... We especially like the high country there on the North borders. We have two or three favorite camping places in the Northern High Country namely Cloudland Canyon at Trenton, Little River Canyons at Fort Payne, and Cheaha near Talladega... Lots of hills and canyons in those bordering high country States.

Seems like the southern states maintained the Indian Mounds and ruins more so than the northern States. Georgia is full of Indian named places... The Indian Mounds on the West side of ALA in the Tuscaloosa area are most interesting as well.
