This mild summer has been a real boon to my electric usage. I just got last month's bill, for a whopping $27. Thank you Grand Coulee Dam. I'm not going to find cheap electric like that anywhere.

With your money there is nothing to worry about. 🙂
So are you saying it's true then, "nothing as cheap as rich people."

If you go down South in Florida you ARE going to be in bugland. Remember ALL of that was nothing more than a huge swamp not to long ago before the ole TV ads come out to buy land in Florida in the 60's. :W And you have the everglades just pumping out mosquitoes 365 days a year.
Not all of Florida has bugs, You need to stay in the 'North Central' area. What I call the hidden gem of Florida. THAT area has never been a swamp. I do NOT have mosquitoes where I bought my winter home here.
The key is Midwest to south. Nothing nicer IMHO than Wisconsin the grass is so green in spring it hurts your eyes. And the lakes? Well we don't have gators here so you can swim and fish in ALL of them!
Florida to Wisconsin in the summer and Wisconsin to Florida in the winter. Ahhhhh the perfect way to live.
Now if only I can finish remodeling this darn Florida house to get out of here in summer to do just that! :C

It's also difficult to move to a state with income tax.

I live in southwest Idaho. On level pay, our gas is $39/month and electric is $75. Hard to beat those prices.
And what are your heating bills in winter? Winters there are long and cold.

Bugs and crass Easterners and traffic and bugs and high humidity and bugs and hurricans and bugs - - did I mention bugs?
We spent one winter/spring in Florida and up the East Coast. Never, ever again. We may come for the fall, but will visit and then head back west. :B

TOU rates are key. Sell high price during the day, buy at low price at night. :B
