Looking for a full hookup hidden treasure of a campground in the Carolina mountains for the color change. Finding out we're a little late for reservations. Looked on RV Reviews and it seems all the good rated (8&10) are booked. Anyone have a suggestion?

This probably is one of the ones that you describe as being already booked, but we love Mountain Falls RV Resort at Lake Toxaway, NC. In fact, we were supposed to be there this weekend, but had to cancel due to a crisis at work. If you go, be sure to eat at Gamekeepers Tavern down the road a little ways in Sapphire Valley. I've had buffalo, elk, venison, and last trip, kangaroo (no kidding). Great food and fun place.

We stayed at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in June. It was a very nice place. Very well maintained. Like martinto said there are three levels of campsites (terraced) going up the hill. It is a steep climb to the top but the view is amazing! It is near Asheville and the BRP.

Look at Big Cove road in Cherokee NC. Several good campgrounds on this road with fhu. We camp at Yogi in the Smokies right on the river. Beautiful sites. 118,119,130,131,132 are great sutes. Also 135. We just returned from 10 days. Entrance to the BRP. Is right in Cherokee.River Valley had paved sites but not on the river.

Campfire Lodgings...north of Asheville...mountain top, full hookups. Mama Gerties near Black Mountain...full hookups and 3 levels of site...the top sites have unobstructed view of the surrounding mountains. We love em both!

"Hidden Treasure" and "Full Hook Ups" are mutually exclusive.

The Little Campground in Elk Park (or Banner Elk on rvparkreviews) is nice. They have 4 sites. It is next to the road but there is really no road noise. Must be self contained as there is no bathhouse but the area is beautiful.

We go to Four Paws in Rutherfordton each October. It is a pet friendly cg but is very clean and quiet. It is only 19 miles from Chimney Rock.

We have taken a liking to Smokemont, in the NP. Beautiful location with many creekside site suitable for large rigs however, no hookups, no cell service, no TV signal. Not for those who must have creature comforts.

I've stayed there twice. It's my favorite place to stay in the mountains. The sites are level, plenty of room, hookups are good and it's convenient to the Parkway. If you belong to PA, it will be half price. The owner owns a large RV park on I-95 close to the NC/VA border. You should call him for reservations and when you get there, he has a system for you to pay by envelopes. The road that gets you there goes on to a Parkway entrance.

How's the road noise? Looks like the sites are close to the road and there's no barrier.
