Lake George New York

We're planning on going to NY in July and staying at Lake George RV Resort. Any suggestions on which sites are best? Our MH is 30' and DW likes full hook ups. I'm a history buff so what are the historical locations in the area and how far is it to the Canadian border in case we want to run up there?

On Thursday nights they have fireworks over Lake George. People sit alone the shore downtown to watch. We have also take the Minni Ha Ha steam boat or the larger boat that has a band on board. On the Thursday night cruise the boat positions themselves so the firework show is right in front of you. There is also a tub ride down a river and amesuments parks that your grandson would enjoy. Check out the tourist info at the campground and you can get brochures. If you want to cross into Canada don't forget your passports.you can cross over but you cannot get back!
See you on the road!

you can catch the bike trail right from the campground. If you go right on the trail it will take you to Lake George. Great place to take a break on one of the benches and look at the lake. If you go left you will take a ride through Glens Falls. Not as picturesque but a nice ride also.

To the OP,

About renting a car at Lake George and cross the border to Canada I have read a contract that it can be restricted(Canada to US). Maybe no issues from states to Canada, but could just ask the rental agency to confirm.

We use the bike trails every time we go to Lake George RV Park. It's a great ride down to the village and lake on the bike path. We also go to Martha's ice cream on the bike paths and then across RT. 9 and down behind the hotel with the indoor water park.

Has anyone tried the bike trails in Lake George? My grandson and I are bikers when the opportunity presents itself and LG sounds like it has some great trails to ride.

I just discovered the Trolley doesn't start running until June 28th and we're only there June 21-28. Oh well, we're still going to have a great time. Got the rental car and our RV site lined up today so we're raring to go!! :B

Best campground! Cannot wait for another visit. If you want to see the shows at the French Mountain Theatre, try to get a site near there or else you can hope on the free trolly.
See you on the road!

Should be able to get a rental in Glens Falls, about 5 miles south of the park.
30 miles south will bring you to Saratoga (health, history, horses) and a bit east to the Saratoga Battlefield. Lake George has the Fort William Henry on the south end and Fort Ticonderoga on the north end. Blue Mountain museum of Adirondack history is well worth the drive there. Enjoy.

Thanks y'all. We're looking forward to the trip. We've had passports for years since we cruise frequently.

I was told there is a car rental agency in a nearby town. Can anyone confirm. We don't toad so I'll need a rental.

Fort Ticonderoga is well worth a visit.
We prefer the upper section of LGRVP.

The Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake will give you a good primer on the local history.

the campground is one of our favorites but most of the sites are not too level. Ask about that when you register and don't be afraid to go back and request a different site if you don't like the one they have you on. They are very accommodating.
