Long shot, but thought I'd ask...

Our boys really want to tailgate this fall. Not something we were planning to do with our fifth wheel, but hey - why not? I'm thinking a trip to NC State in Raleigh would be fun. (Ulterior motive - would love for our kids to consider this school when the time comes.) Anyone have experience tailgating there as a non-alum? Any general advice for newbies to the tailgating experience?

A little biased here (74 Wolfpack grad) but come on up and enjoy the party. Just be sure to deck everyone out in red and white and you'll fit right in. Also recommend spending at least a day checking out the campus and Raleigh in general.

Good suggestions on staying at the Fairgrounds campground if you can work it out. If not, Lake Jordan is a good option but check to see what time the gates close. There aren't any good commercial campgrounds in the Raleigh area that I'm aware of.

I'll reiterate what the last two posters have stated. The NCSU football stadium is diagonally across the road from the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. They have first come, first serve RV parking. It's a great deal.

There is one caveat though. Make sure you check when the NC state fair is going on. During that period, all the sites are reserved for fair goers, vendors, etc.

Our merry band of Va Tech RV tailgaters have stayed there twice.

you can park at the Fairgrounds as the OP has stated...It is first come ..no reservations,as we come for the NC State vs FSU game every other year....Chuck

Next to NCSU stadium is the NC State Fairgrounds and they have a new campground. Contact them but it may be hard to get a spot on football weekends.

We do not let that happen as we do not open our coach to the public. Auburn university sets up giant portable restrooms all over campus for football season.

You should have put in your title "Tailgating at NC State" for possibly more replies. People tend to look at headings to see if they want to open it. Did you try Googling it for information? Good luck!

I have tailgated at a football game and was thinking of doing so again. Until last season...



Folks started lining up on Friday night (for a Sunday game). The line went for miles. Many ended up with no place to park.

Hopefully, someone will be by soon with info for NC State.

You all will enjoy the tailgate experience. Not sure what NC State has for on campus tailgating but if they do fill up with water before you get there as water is typically hard to hook up to for a fill up close to most campus'. Yes you can find a place to fill up a five gallon fresh water can to top off you tank as needed. Also make sure that your black tank is empty when you arrive. Take short marine type showers to conserve water and black tank capacity. Buy paper plates and plastic utensils and cups to not have to wash dishes. If you do not have a generator on board you will want to rent one for the weekend. If you have a generator on board you will more then likely need an exhaust that vents above your RV. If you would like a fun tailgating experience I would recommend a short drive to Auburn. Tailgating on campus is fun and we have some off campus campgrounds with activities but you must make reservations in advance. Who knows your sons might like to become an Auburn Tiger!!!!
