looking for a workspace with RV hookups

Hey, all - I need some help finding a particular kind of RV space.

We live in our Class A Tiffin full-time. Within the next few months we will need some temporary space to complete a work project. Ideally we would like to rent a trailer, cabin or even a garage/shop (if it is heated/cooled) as long as it has full hook-ups for our RV.

As for location, we would prefer being in the Houston/Gulf Coast area but at this point we are pretty open to anything as long as we won't freeze to death.

I've been combing Craigslist and AirBnB with zero success and I'm honestly at a loss as to how to approach this.

Can you think of other ways I could look for a space like this?

When in the boatyard we are onboard the trailer too. The boatyard belongs to a relative. We have been doing this routine since 2007.

Really enjoy our stay every time. We have an adapter for marine 30A. A twist & lock type. We are right next to the water. Tires have been in the water a few times at extra high tides.

It is a real working boatyard. A dying breed filled with lots of history, character & characters. They have a full workshop. If I don't have the tool I need they probably do. The trailer gets it's annual full waxing here. Set up the A frames, find a long board to go between them & away we go.

We complain to the owner about no fire ring, no FHU & no picnic table. We get threatened with being launched by the travel lift if we stay too long.

Search "RV lot with casita". Probably some down in South Texas

Back in my pipelining days when the camps were full, and we late hires had to look/ make do, find a place to hookup in farm and ranch country a visit to the local supply store always found us a place in a farmers yard, at an abandoned -underused work site with buildingsthat might suit you.
Look to places that have had a recent or seasonal construction boom ,or are in population decline due to mechanization of agriculture. Theres new constructed buildings for lease that might welcome an attendant.

Put an ad on Craigslist for what you want and in the area you want.

Depends greatly on the boatyard. Some are really easy to work with others won't even let you work on your boat. But yes, it is sometimes possible to live on your boat while working on it.

We have in the past brought the RV in for a couple days when switching back and forth between boat and RV.

To your original question: Look for RV parks that have cabins for rent. Yes, you will pay for both a site and the cabin. We are over in Port Aransas as we speak and there is a rental cabin right behind us.

Have you tried the regular snowbird parks? Many have meeting rooms for activities that are not being used due to the Coronacrud restrictions, but they should still be usable for your purpose.

You will likely have to be very specific about what type of work you want to do in order to secure any space. Potential landlords are going to be very leery of nebulous proposals. Liability issues would be first and foremost among their concerns. They would also very likely fear that your project may be one that would leave their property a mess or worse. I have visions of rebuilding engines with all sorts of oils staining the floors and caustic chemicals eating away at the structure. And of course, a Breaking Bad meth lab would always be a nice fit in a short term workspace rental.
Also, why would you need to stay on site? That is just going to make finding a workspace geometrically more difficult. Finding true commercial space on a short term lease is likely to be wickedly expensive. Something you might try if you are on a short budget would be a Craig's List ad spelling out what you are doing and what you need. Most likely you will find someone with an old barn that might be willing to make a few bucks. Just remember, those old barns may not have a lot of power available if that is a concern.

Many boaters live in their boats while they work on them in boatyards. Never gave a thought to hookups but boatyards are set up to pump out, not necessarily for dumping. My live-aboard friends us the marina facilities while on the hard for maintenance.

Try doing a search on "shared office rental" in the area you want to be. There are a number of companies in the Boston area called "WeWork" and "Workbar" that specialize in renting space. When you find a company I would call them and ask about the RV hook-up part. One by itself isn't an issue-it's the combo that becomes difficult. I'd also contact groups like the Elks in the area. They often have hook-ups and might be willing to let you use/lease part of their facility on a short-term basis.

What kind of a "work project"? Do you need clean space for writing, drawing, etc? A Houston realtor should be able to find you a short term house rental. Or are you looking for shop space to saw, drill, sand, etc? A commercial realtor should be able to help with shop space.

If you are looking for clean inside space, you would probably be better off storing the RV and living in the place you are renting while working on the project rather than finding a place with FHU onsite.

Industrial shop space you're more likely to find FHU onsite.
