Really? $40 for fhu, beautifully landscaped paved pads, nice pool, lake and more. Plus they offer Good Sam and other discounts. To me, that is a good price for the resort type feel. We never heard any noise from the school or subdivisions. You could hear a truck every once in a while on the highway, but only if we were outside the camper.

James Island County park, Hunting Island State Park, and Blythe Island regional park are all good parks with very different attractions and amenities.

Don't miss hunting island. Much fewer bugs on the beach loops.

You will have ZERO problems getting in and out. I have a 40ft 5er myself with 5 slides. Try to get the ones closer to the ocean side.

Unfortunately the light house is closed during Jan/Feb. It's a nice view from the top!

Looked at RV reviews, not rated for big rigs. I'm 65ft combo- 40 ft 5'ver with 4 slides. Can I get in...and out?

Another vote for Skidaway Island SP,outside of Savannah. A word of warning--bring your heavy duty Deep Woods Off! It's a beautiful campground with a large number of pull-throughs. About 30 min from the beach (Tybee Island).

HD Off needed in Jan/Feb ?

Hmm, not sure. I'd pack it, just in case. Skidaway is surrounded by marsh. But the weather out to be great that time of year!

Would highly suggest Huntington Beach State Park or Hunting Island State Park. HBSP has much more to do in and around it than Edisto. Years ago we would go to Edisto but have read a recent review and it has was less than glowing. James Island County Park is great and convenient. Stayed at Santee once and was not overly impressed.

Jekyll Island Campground is on the island and is a wooded campground with lots of different type sites. It is a bit crowded during summer weekends, but shouldn't be bad at all in Jan/Feb. cost is a little higher than nearby state parks, but is on the island.

I planned to stay at Skidaway last Jan, but they were having water issues at the time and I had a non-Rving friend staying with me so chose not to deal with limited water. We ended up staying at Ft McAllister State Park.. it is a bit further from downtown Savannah.. but is still an easy access (just use I95).. it also seemed easier to manage getting to the park, since I didn't have to go through Savannah itself (main roads in Richmond Hill were 4 lane, until I got out within a couple of miles of park.. then that road went to park, nearby Marina and neighborhoods). Ft McAllister does have some narrow turns within the campground itself, but I managed in my Ext Cab PU and 28ft TT (even by myself)

Any of the parks along that area, be prepared if you are in a site open to the marshes, you can get a cold breeze coming from the marsh. We stayed in a mid-campground site and it was much warmer feeling and not to cold to sit out by the fire.

Skidaway Island State Park & Blythe Island Regional Park are both nice campgrounds. Coastal GA RV Resort is a nice campground too, but a little pricey for what you get (compared to Blythe Island & Skidaway) - plus it is across from an elementary school and next to 5 sub-divisions so it will be noisy.

Jekyll Island is definitely a must see, but I can't recommend the campground.

A few years ago, we stayed at Coastal Ga RV Resort in the Brunswick area. It's a very nice park with friendly staff. It's easy on and off the highway and there's a flying j there also. You can take the road straight down to Jekyll island or st simons island.

We will definitely return and for more than one night next time.
