Myrtle Beach Travel Park?

I am looking for first hand experiences with the Myrtle Beach Travel Park. I have been to the website and the usual sites for checking something like this out. I would like some inside information from those of you that have stayed there. I am attempting to get a “feel” for the campground. Are quiet hours enforced? Are the campsites arranged well? What part of the campground offers the better campsites?

The location appears to be ideal as far as getting to and from points of interest and activities in the beach area.

We have camped in Myrtle Beach before, but never at this campground.

If someone has some pictures, that would be great also. I am always interested in pictures other than what is listed on the website.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Keep calling. They WILL get cancellations. I used to call just about every day and got in. If you are willing to change sites, they might be able to accommodate you too. Anyone know if their reservation system has been computerized yet? Sometimes we found they say they are full is because someone doesn't want to look through ALL the sites on the wall.

We called every cg in Myrtle Beach uo to Emerald Isle for a spot over July 4th (last minute decision because of work schedule) and everyone said" NO VACANCIES". It's that time of year again.....

I would call it 'full' as opposed to 'over crowded'. Essentially all sites are either occupied or already reservation assigned. It would be much the same at all of the big MB commercial parks, Ocean Lakes, Pirate Land etc ...

You might try Apache which sometimes has space or one of the state parks.

Yes but unlike a lot of campgrounds no one seems to get out of control and Security keeps a handle on things. My recommendation is to go after mid-August if you can. It quiets down as a lot of schools are already back in session.

Looks like the "gate" question wasn't answered. Yes, the gate is locked at midnight. However, there is a parking lot right outside the gate. You can park there and walk in. If you need to get out in an emergency when the gate is locked it does trigger from the inside of the campground.

Our favorite park in MB bar none. We love the beach side sites, don't recommend the ones in the trees where you first come in. Super nice bathhouses in the beach area, nice camp store/grocery too. Good sites with a covered table that a lot of people enclose and make into a room.

We were there last winter and there are never any fireworks from inside the park itself. The problem is that there's a large condo complex to the right (facing the beach) and sometimes on the weekends we hear fireworks launched from there. It's not all the time but it does happen.

The fireworks issue is all the way up and down the beach in the summer months. It's not permitted but it seems hard to control.

We usually go in the Fall and there has never been any organized fireworks when we have been there. I have seen discarded fireworks along the beach though that individuals have set off. You should be far enough back from the beach that your dog should be OK.

I also have a question about this park - are there fireworks like at some of the other parks further south (on a seemingly nightly basis)? My dog freaks out with fireworks to the point that he hardly sleeps at night.

I understand that they "close" the gates to this park roughly around midnight. Does this mean that you can not get back in after this time, or is it just a matter of security letting you in? I was thinking about this because if you go to one of the shows, and then stop for ice cream, it will be after midnight.

The cabins our friends rented about 7 years ago were modulars on blocks with decks. They now also rent permanent travel trailers. I think they were about 30 feet.

The one I was in was clean and in good repair.
Time to camp.
