This will be our fifth trip to MB. Staying at MB Travel Park in 2 weeks. Looking for some different things to do. Trying to stay away from all the retail stuff (Broadway etc.)

Also looking for some great local seafood and or BBQ options. Don't mind driving a bit for something if it is good.

Planning a day trip to Charleston as well.

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™‚

The the best grilled salmon I've had on the east coast is at a restaurant called "Slightly North of Broad" on Bay St. in Charleston, SC.

You might want to try the grilled salmon at Palisade's or Etta's Seafood in Seattle, WA. That's the freshest and best I've ever tasted anywhere when it comes to salmon. I know it wasn't shipped across country to get to the plate. It's certainly worth a visit to Seattle:W

Still prefer those lobster rolls though. Guess it's time to take a road trip to New England. Autumn leaves and seafood. Uh-huh. :C

Agreed about Calabash not being the best. Of course compared with New England's lobster rolls it's a tough race for any fried fare. Craving one of those lobster rolls right now.

We like the steamed shrimp and crabs in the Southern states. And as you wisely noted, it depends on your palate's preferences.

We love MBTP we go once every year. This was the first year we missed in a long time. We opted for a trip to Fort Wilderness and Disney,we will go back to Myrtle Beach next year for sure. There is more to do and eat in Myrtle Beach than one week will allow, we have never gone hungry or had a bad time there.

Thanks again! Many great ideas. Looks like I may be heading to Murrells Inlet or Calabash for dinner.

We have several favorites that we won't miss on any trip to MB!

Bubba's Fish Shack in Surfside
Dead Dog Saloon in Murrell's Inlet
For a nicer night out - Drunken Jack's in Murrell's Inlet

Another nice option closer to central MB is the Carolina Roadhouse.

This is a lot further south than MBTP, but one place we enjoy is Angelo's Steak & Pasta.

I'm a Calabash fan as well as Finn McCools and someone else mentioned.

We also stay at MBTP. Keep the trailer stored there in fact. There is a little place up Kings Road just across Lake Arrowhead Road called Finn McCools that has some of the best shrimp we have found on the beach. We now go there every time we are there (about 6 times a year).

We also usually go to Chesapeake House for a standard seafood dinner, or Sea Captains House in Myrtle Beach itself, around 38th avenue. While Calabash is nice, we have decided it is not worth the trip all the way up there when we can get great seafood around the corner. We do not do the buffets any more. They are definitely not worth the price in our opinion.

I agree with the murrels inlet recommendation. If driving through the Surfside area and want to save some money, try Bubbas Fish Shack. $9 for a shrimp basket, rather $18+ plate a plate somewhere else or $25+ for a buffet. Great atmosphere and food. The California ultimate pizza place is owned by the same company and the best pizza I ever had was the big kahuna there a few weeks ago.

Gambling boats in Little River if you are into that. Not really much of a gambler but we go a couple of times a year to play the slots. They have senior day where you can get on eat cheap. Food is only avg. but the ride is worth the cost even if you don't gamble. Just go on a fairly calm day, especially if you have not been on the ocean before. Check out bigmcasino.com/myrtlebeach, our favorite.

Also best seafood in the area is in Calabash NC, just past Little River in edge of NC. Probably 10-15 seafood places to choose from. We like Becks or the little Calabash seafood hut ( if you can get in the door ).

have fun!!
